Those boom times went bust.

Seeing as I am still adjusting back to 'normal life', these are the things I miss most about China and Hong Kong:

* Lemon tea. Why is it not popular in this bloody country!?!

* Buying knock-off Polo shirts. It's strangely addictive - even when you've bought a dozen or so you find yourself going back for more...they're different in each city: better sizing, better quality, a larger variety of colours. At $NZ5 a shirt you don't care if they're real or not.

* 24-hour yum char. Sure, I probably won't want to eat another shao mai for the next few months, but it's nice to know I can get it whenever I need a fix.

* Being called 'liang jay' (good-looking/cute boy) when in shops. Of course they call everyone that and they probably think you're the ugliest thing to ever crawl into their shop but hey, it'd never happen here and it feels good to be loved (ha!).

* Not knowing anybody, therefore allowing one to be as drunk and stupid when on a night out. You'll never see any of these people again and if you do, they can just take it and feck it. In fact, I'll miss the bars/discos full-stop.

* Feeling just that little bit taller when walking down the street.

china, random crap
