The Weekend of Slightly Ruined Plans. Ugh

Jul 09, 2007 18:22

Well let's start off from July 4th. Boyfriend and I went off to see fireworks only to have them not happen. [Of course they still let them off for the folks watching at home.. Gay..] So we were kinda upset with that. Then of course you all now probably know that boyfriend went off to New York with his friends and didn't take me :[. But I suppose that's not the worst of it?? Well surely the loneliness caused by him leaving and not having anyone else really topped off the list.. -_- But when Saturday came around, I managed to go and see Lauren at the hospital again, and low and behold, good news! She said there was a chance that she was gonna get started on some motor rehab today, and possibly have her chest tube and stomach feeding tube removed!

For those that have no idea on what I'm talking about, here's the gist of it. Before going to Bangkok for vacation in April, Lauren had a small "cold" and did the usual cold remedies to "fix" it. Yet, no matter what she did she continuously felt as though she "had a cold" throughout her trip. By the time she got on the 19 hour home flight she started feeling worse and worse and had issues breathing. From J.F.K. airport she paid some cab guy over 200 bucks to drive her to a Philadelphian hospital. [Jefferson U. Hospital on Chestnut] Turns out she had a VERY SEVERE case of pneumonia. It was so bad the doctors removed part of her lung, moved her heart over, and have kept her bedridden in I.C.U. or stepdown since the end of April. Yikes right! Unfortuantely, her 12 weeks of sick time is getting down to the last 2-3 weeks! I hope she gets out before she has to get disability and lose her job!! [Well the losing of the job seems unlikely according to her, but you never know]

Well either way, she certainly seems to be doing well. She managed to get her first shower on Friday and few steps throughout the weekend. I'm sure it was a major relief for her to finally not have to get a sponge bath and to be able to go to some place that's not her room. I just hope she's out asap! Well, anyway, I spent most of the day with her in her room except for the small walking lap we did around the floor. She misses the outside world desperately hahaha. But yea that was mostly Saturday. Still though, too bad Vanessa didn't get to come.

Sunday, Mary popped in and we hung around Walnut Street and had some lunch at the Middle Eastern place around there. It was sooo good. :] And I managed to take home leftover lamb briyani! -_- Of course though it's horrendously spicy, and the people at the restaurant forgot to give me the white sauce stuff that took away the spiciness of it.. Dangit! Oh well, still good. After that we went off and had some really good frozen hot cocoa [or something like it] and iced coffee :]. So yummy!! It certainly was more expensive than Starbucks, but I had to admit the quality was a heck of a lot better! Hahaha.

I must go back for more!

Well.. Uteng finally came back around 9-9:30 during the night, and we spent the night talking. He mentioned to me when I called him on that Sunday morning that he had gone to a strip club with his friends. Ugh. I, obviously, hated the idea. But I suppose, given the "hey it's like 2 in the morning, and we really wanna go, and it would be too hard to drive back an hour just to drop you off at the house and come back" situation, it was a little more understandable. And he did say that despite the fact that all of his friends' and his friend's girlfriend's saying and pressure of him to get a lap dance, he never got a dance. I still have to admit though, it was a bit of a blow to my self confidence that he even went in. Then again, who would want to wander New York City at 2-3 in the morning alone? No one I suppose... Right?
