New Release Pick of the Week: Crows Zero Blu-ray

Mar 29, 2012 23:55

Last week was jam packed with new releases to U.S. DVD and Blu-ray with Blood Royale, Scent of a Woman, Private Eye and other big titles all landing at the same time (much to the chagrin of my wallet). This week, however, didn't bring us quite the same deluge of video awesomeness.

That said, J-movie fans still had something to rejoice over with a re-release of Takashi Miike's Crows Zero finally making it to the states on Blu-ray.

Attractive delinquents battling out angst and teenage aggression all on high-def video? That's definitely what I call the perfect film for my inaugural Pick of the Week. And when I mention "attractive delinquents," I'm specifically referring to Shun Oguri, Takayuki Yamada, Kenta Kiritani, and Sousuke Takaoka. Hello, fangirl dream cast! Ms. Jin Akanishi Meisa Kuroki is also featured in the movie, but to be honest, her role is pretty easy to overlook when compared to the fabulously over-the-top, testosterone driven fight scenes.

One sentence summary:
If Lord of the Flies had a baby with Fight Club, it would probably end up looking a lot like Crows Zero.
