Packaging Spotlight 020: Heaven's Bookstore

Mar 23, 2011 21:00

I initially picked up Heaven's Bookstore solely for the Yuko Takeuchi factor, and I essentially knew nothing else about the film, so I was thoroughly pleased to find the story filled with quiet, nuanced performances from a host of other actors I enjoy, including Tetsuji Tamayama (BOSS, Nana), Karina (Love Shuffle, Bambino), and Teruyuki Kagawa (Tokyo Sonata, Mr. Brain).

It also gave me the chance to try out a new (to me) Korea-based retailer, K2DVD.com. The transaction went smoothly, and my 2-disc, English-subtitled Korean edition of the movie arrived in exactly a week, despite my decision to use the standard economy shipping. I'll definitely be using them again.

I'm really, really pleased with the packaging job on this edition. The outer slipcover is beautifully colored with a light glossy finish - and who can argue with a large image of Yuko?

Once the slipcover comes off, you can see the Amaray insert is just slightly different, but the fact that it's not totally identical is still a welcome change. Plus, again...Yuko!

The discs themselves feature the two main characters as played by Yuko and Tetsuji Tamayama, both of whom are extremely pretty.

And the art behind the discs on the interior part of the insert is just gorgeous, as you can see.
