America/Vietnam - Repairing their relationship

Feb 24, 2011 20:28

Because I love this pairing, but don't like how everything I find is based on that angsty mindfuck of a war. :( America and Vietnam have better relations presently, so I'd like to see something that shows the progression their relationship from the end of the war to present day. It can start out angsty, but by the end, I'd like to have some sort of happy(-ish) resolution. It can be a tear-jerker (God knows I'm a sucker for those), as long as there's some sort of hopeful outlook for them.

Platonic relationship, friendship, romance, you can take this wherever you want to with as much or as little historical context as you want.

Bonus: Mentions of South Vietnam. It's part of my [romanticized] headcanon that during the war, South Vietnam split from the North as its own personification. When the North won, they reunified as one person. Would like to see some conflict over Vietnam still being bitter about America siding with her "weaker half".
