Korea - Civil war

So, I once read a fic about the American Civil War where America basically had two personalities but was still one guy. So I started thinking about revolutions and civil wars. A few countries I can think of have had civil wars, but none like Korea. What was it like for him when a part of him rebelled, got away with it, and became a separate country?

Bonus 1: To add insult to injury, Korea feels terribly betrayed when China chooses N. Korea over him. Try not to be too angsty, I just want to "awwww poor puppy!!!" to the max over the guy.
Really Important Bonus 2: Someone (or someones) unexpected (either to the readers or to Korea) shows up to comfort Korea. The more obscure the pair, the better. Can be romantic or platonic, but please no smut. I'm more interested in the effects of dividing a historically united nation. (Note: America would be the obvious one, based on history, but I think he'd be too busy glaring at Russia to notice, so, yeah... not America or Russia.)

Optional Bonus 3: If Norge is present, the reason they are friends/know each other has something to do with their hair curls. Just go with it.
