Petit nuage au rapport : Fugu Chaulnes, le 18 Février 2012 à Chaulnes
[FR] Me plaindre n'est heureusement pas mon seul talent, je sais aussi me réjouir quand il m'arrive un truc bien :D
J'ai un peu (beaucoup) tardé à rédiger le rapport Fugu Chaulnes car des photos avaient été postées dans leur album Facebook et j'avais besoin de préserver la surprise pour une de mes amies.
Bréfouille, ce premier Fugu Chaulnes a été organisé conjointement par les associations OCLC et Wafutsu le samedi 18 Février dernier. Je m'y suis rendue en compagnie de Bernadette qui a été mon esclave pour la journée, en échange d'un bon bento cuisiné avec amûr et du thé aux fleurs de chez Mariage frères.
1. Avant
Qu'est-ce que j'ai cassé les pieds au staff de Wafutsu avant la convention ! Je leur ai envoyé 50 mails pour leur demander la taille des tables, des grilles, de ceci, de cela, ils ont dû me trouver IN-FER-NALE ! J'ai d'ailleurs bien failli ne pas m'y rendre pour des raisons de logistique : en effet, aucun train ne me permettait de me rendre sur place pour l'ouverture du salon. C'est alors que les gentils orgas m'ont proposé de venir me chercher à la gare TGV la plus proche et après vérification des horaires, MIRACLE, ça rentrait tout pile poil avec le premier train du matin !
Bernadette et moi avons été accueillies par Arnaud de l'OCLC qui, profitant de l'heure très matinale, nous a fait faire un petit tour de Chaulnes ! Certes, le temps était grisouille et mon cerveau n'a absolument RIEN enregistré, j'ai malgré tout grandement apprécié l'attention.
Arrivées sur les lieux de la conv', sans surprise, la pièce est aussi grande qu'un terrain de basket, il y a une petite dizaine d'exposants, à vue de nez 80% amateurs et 20%professionnels. J'avais pris 3 grilles d'affichage pensant qu'elles seraient plus étroites qu'en réalité, pareil pour les tables qui étaient gigantesques et que ça m'a bigrement bien arrangée. J'ai vraiment pu étaler tout mon matos et laisser Bernadette en charge de la partie cartes et marque-page. Et fait extraordinaire : j'ai pu caser mes CINQ illustrations sous verre alors qu'il est rare que j'arrive à en mettre plus de deux, exceptionnel je vous dis !
Anticipant la production de copeaux suite à la taille au cutter de mes crayons, j'ai demandé tout de suite un sac poubelle que l'on nous a gracieusement donné n_n J'ai lu avec grand surprise que des exposants avaient regretté l'absence de poubelles ; je ne pense pas avoir fait l'objet d'un traitement de faveur, j'ai juste demandé O_o
2. Pendant
Comme annoncé dans un précédent billet, j'ai revu avec plaisir TyKayn du fanzine !Q et j'avais à ma droite a charmante Jordane avec qui nous avons discuté des Geek faeries qui ont lieu à Orléans. Face à nous, les Berry blossom faisaient leur entrée dans le monde des conventions. J'y ai également croisé ma Nee-nyupette que je connais depuis bientôt 7 ans <3
La matinée a été très calme et nous avons eu la visite des élus locaux dans l'après-midi, à qui j'ai pu sortir très fièrement mon désormais célèbre "Vous savez, je suis comptable et mon rêve dans la vie, c'est devenir Inspecteur du fisc' !". L'ambiance était plutôt bon enfant et j'ai même trouvé le moyen d'être débordée par les dédicaces D: Ça ne m'était plus arrivé depuis des lustres, si je m'attendais à cela dans un événement de cette envergure ! Les marraines de l'événement sont ABSOLUMENT charmantes : Patricia Legrand et Léa Gabriele, les voix françaises de Sakura et Tomoyo de Card captor Sakura, m'ont couverte de compliments que je savais plus où je devais me mettre, hiiiiiii hiiiiiiiiii >o<" Elles ont vraiment la pêche, très communicatives (bon, elles sont commédiennes en même temps heing), enthousiastes, vraiment vraiment adorables !
Le concert de Keisho Ohno était terrible *_______* Dommage que je n'aie pas pu en profiter pleinement : en effet, il me restait 2 commandes à faire dans la pénombre, que j'ai d'aileurs terminées pendant qu'il dédicaçait son CD >_______<
3. Après
Comme j'avais complètement délégué les ventes à ma bestiole gloutonne, je ne m'étais pas rendu compte que les affaires avaient été bonnes ! Tout ce que j'avais remarqué, c'était que j'avais peu offert d'enveloppes décorées et que seule une personne avait demandé un tirage de tarots en cadeau pour ses achats.
Aussi, quelques jours après, Patricia Legrand est revenue vers moi pour me commander deux autres "C'est un secret" : sa nièce a beaucoup aimé les textes ainsi que les illustrations et elle voulait donc en offrir un. J'en ai eu les larmes aux yeux TT^TT C'est toujours beaucoup d'émotions lorsque les gens s'intéressent à mes productions auto-publiés lors des salons et qu'ils vont jusqu'à les acheter pour eux-mêmes, mais c'en est encore davantage lorsqu'ils s'enthousiasment à l'idée d'en faire cadeau.
4. Synthèse
En conclusion, un très bon salon pour moi, convivial, public intéressé, voisins de stands adorables, une bonne petite conv' comme je les aime quoi. Quant aux orgas, bien que plutôt stressés car c'était la toute première convention qu'ils tenaient, ils étaient aux petits soins, très avenants et disponibles. Pour ne rien gâcher, je pense que l'équipe a plutôt les pieds sur terre et qu'ils n'ont eu pas les yeux plus gros que le ventre : conscients de leurs effectifs réduits, ils ont très bien fait en fonction et, quand bien même ils étaient bien occupés, je pense qu'ils n'ont pas jamais été débordés jusqu'à l'ingérable.
La date du prochain Fugu Chaulnes a été annoncée, il aura lieu le 9 Juin 2013, j'en serai très certainement c:

I've postponed writing this report because I needed to preserve the surprise for a friend of mine: photos have been posted in their Facebook albums and I didn't want my Ginie-panda to see them X'D Then, the lack of sleep and procrastination piled up and I ended up writing this only now.
Sooooooo, I was in Chaulnes on February 18th for the first manga event organized jointly by OCLC and Wafustsu asssociations. Bernadette came along to help me with my stand, in exchange for a bento box filled with luv and some flower tea from Mariages frères.
1. Before
I litterally harassed Wafutsu staff before the convention : I sent them tons of e-mails asking them this and that, they must have thought I was sooooo annoying! The thing is that I may have not attended: I simulated the travel by train and I couldn't make it before the opnening even if I took the first train. The staff then kindly offered to fetch me to the closest high speed train station and it was miraculously welcome because it fitted the schedule perfectly.
Bernadette and I were fetched by Arnaud from OCLC in TGV Haute Picardie and considering it was very early in the morning, he nicely gave us a tour of the village. I can't remember a thing but I really appreciated the intention.
Not much surprise when I discovered the location: as big as a basketball court, enough tables for about a dozen exhibitors, roughly 80% amateurs + 20% professionals. The 3 display grids and 2 tables I had were way bigger than expected and it was a very good news. I could spread all of my stuff and have Bernadette in charge of dealing with cards and bookmarks whereas I'd have to care only for the fanzines and free sketches. Exceptionally, all of the FIVE framed original artworks did fit the stands, a genuine miracle when I can only fit two ones most of the time!
I anticipated that I'd produce wood shavings when sharpening my pencils so I asked for a plastic refuse sack that I was very kindly given. I read other exhibitors regretting not having dust bins and I dn't think I got a favoured or whatsoever, I only asked for it.
2. During
As said previously, I met again with TyKayn from !Qzine and I had on my right the charming Jordane Legrand Krugell who I talked about Geek faeries convention with. In front of us, Berry blossom made their debut expo and I also saw my friend Neeolah.
There was a few visitors in the morning and affluence really started in the afternoon. Some local elected officials visited us and I could proudly give them my infamous "You know, I'm an IRL accountant and the goal of my life is to become a tax assessor!". I had a very good time there and I even found a way to get overwhelmed by the free sketches D: It hadn't happened in ages, it was so unexpected for an event of that size!
Fugu Chaulnes had 2 honorary patrons, Patricia Legrand and Léa Gabrièle, French voice actresses for Sakura and Tomoyo from Card captor Sakura. Those ladies are absooooooooooolutely charming! So dynamic and enthusiastic and communicating (they're actresses after all), they covered me in compliments, it made me soooooooooooo happy >u<
Finally, Keisho Ohno gave a concert in the end, it was AWESOME *____________* It's a shame I hardly enjoyed it: I had 2 commissions left and I had to finish them in the dark >____<

Since I completely delegated the sales to my friend, I didn't realize we did very well. I only noted that I hadn't given that many illustrated envelops as bonus for big purchases and that I did only ONE mere tarot reading as gift for multiple purchase. That's still better than in Belgium where I did NONE whereas the convention was 10 times bigger...
A few days later, Patricia Legrand ordered 2 additional "C'est un secret": her niece loved the poems and illustrations and she wanted to give one a a birthday present. I was moved to tears TT^TT I'm always moved and grateful to people wh show interest in my self-published things; it's always nice to have people buying my stuff for themselves but it's even more awesome when they think that it's good enough as a present for someone else.
4. Conclusion
All in all, it was a good event, nice audience, nice neighbours and all. As for the organizers, although they were kind of under pressure since it was their very forst event, I think they were very caring and available for us. On top of that, I think they were responsible and realistic enough not to overdo it: aware that they were low in staff, they didn't get carried away and did what they could with the few people they had. I'm not saying they were not busy, they really were but not to the point they were overwhelmed and couldn't take care of us.
Next Fugu Chaulnes has been anounced, it will take place on June 9th 2013, count me in c:
