Happy 29th birthday to Dochin Yohsikuni of the Jpop duo CHEMISTRY!!
Chemistry was formed unofficially in 2000, when Yoshikuni Dochin and Kaname Kawabata were paired up in the ASAYAN “Chou Danshi Vocalist Audition,” a program similar to American Idol. As finalists the duo, among other pairs, released a limited edition single in December 2000, but their single, Saigo no Kiss, was the only one to sell all 35,000 copies, and make it to the 9th spot on the Oricon Charts. As a result, the duo won the competition in January 2001.
In March of 2001, they made their official debut as CHEMISTRY with their single Pieces of a Dream, which achieved the #1 spot on the Oricon charts and went on to become one of the top selling singles of the year. Throughout their career, most of their singles have hit the #1 spot, and all but one of their albums hit the #1 spot on the album charts, while their album Fo(u)r was pushed to #1 by Kinki Kids’ H album.
They have also become known in Korea by collaborating with several Korean artists on the song “Let’s Get Together Now.” They also collaborated with Korean star Lena Park on the song “Dance with Me” on their Kimi ga Iru single.

Wiki.theppn I first heard Chemistry when they did their duet with Crystal Kay, called "Two As One." It was such a great song, so catchy and stuff, and I loved their vocals. But after I heard some of their solo work, I was, quite frankly, rather disappointed. A lot of their songs are really kind of bland and don't really show off their great talents. Their compilation work m-flo, AstroSexy, is awesome, but I haven't heard one of their own songs that I was too impressed with.
Saigo no Kawa
This is their latest single, and the theme song of the movie Zo no Senaka. The movie is about a successful businessman who is diagnosed with lung cancer, and told that he only has six months left to live, so he decides to leave work and spend the last few months with his family, living out the rest of his days instead of taking life-prolonging treatment. It's actually a really beautiful song to go along with a very sad theme. (I love how I always upload songs that contradict my general opinion.) But their vocals are great and the song is lovely and heart-rending. The lyrics are so sad and so wonderful. I like it a lot.
