Happy birthday to Nanase Aikawa, who turns 33 today!!
Even as a young girl, Nanase Aikawa had a penchant for singing. She had participated in singing competitions as middle-school student, and one appearance brought the attention of the famous music producer Tetsuro Oda, who trained Nanase at the age of 15, after she dropped out of high school.
After five years of training, she released her firs single, Yume Miru Shouja ja Irarenai, on November 8, 1995. She followed this single with three more, and then, in 1996, she released her first full album, Red. This album sold more than 2 million copies in only its first month, making it an immensely successful album. After the success of this album, she was invited to participate in a coed singing contest sponsored by NHK for New Years.
The next year, after releasing three more singles, she released her second album, ParaDOX, in July 1997, which sold 1.8 million copies. At the same time, Nanase participated in her first live tour, Live Emotion ’97. According to Avex, this tour, with 20 stops, attracted more than 65,000 fans.
Following a pattern, Nanase released another three singles followed by her third album, Crimson, again in July, 1998, and a second tour. This tour contained 40 concert dates.
In 1999 she released her first compilation album, ID, which, like the first three albums, achieved that #1 spot on the rock charts. Shortly before the release of this album Nanase changed her look, cutting her hair and dyeing it blond. She also parted ways with Testuro Oda and teamed up with legendary guitarist and musician Tomoyasu Hotei.
After ID, Nanase released three more singles in 1999, and in February of the new millennium, she released her fifth album, Foxtrot. This album was slightly less successful, as it topped at only the #3 spot. She released two more singles in 2000.
She started off 2001 by releasing 2 singles on January 31, and then her sixth album, Purana, was released at the end of February. Around this time, Nanase announced that she was married and three months pregnant with her first child. She spent the rest of the year in inactivity, spending t/me with her newborn baby boy.
2002 continued with another single release, and then her first mini-album, The Last Quarter, which consisted of a softer ballad sound than her usual rock. She then released another single in October.
Nanase’s career resumed in June 2002, when she released another single. She did not release an album that year, but she did release a second single in October.
After releasing another single in February 2003 she released her seventh album, a second compilation album, ID:2. For the next year she continued with a steady stream of singles and albums. She released her eight album, 7 seven, in February 2004, and this has been her most recent album. However, she also released 2 mini-albums, The First Quarter in February 2005 and R.U.O.K.?! in November 2005.
In February of 2006 she released her latest single; she has since remained inactive. She announced in May of 2007 that she is working on her latest album, and in September she gave birth to her second child, also a boy. She has said that she will be working slowly on this album and enjoy her new baby. No information has been released as to the title or release date for the album.

JmusicAmerica.com Personally I don't like Nanase Aikawa much. Her voice is too nasally and she doesn't sing well at all. None of her songs appeal to me very much. I don't know why she was so popular. lol. This sounds so horrible. xD; I was going to do one song from each of her albums, plus her latest single, but I couldn't find any quickly enough, and I was pressed for time. So I uploaded just this one song for you guys. If you want more, just make a comment and I'll see what I can do when I've got more time. :3
China Rose
This is probably the one song of hers (that I have) that I actually like a little. It's got a nice beat, and Nanase's vocalsa ren't completely unbearable. And the bakcground music is really great too. The video is somewhat bland but overall it's not too bad. That's all I can really say. xD;
