Well, it's been a pretty good week, methinks. Got into all the classes I needed, although I'm still textbook-less for a couple of them. The bookstore on campus (AND the store across the street from campus) are sold out on those, so I ordered them online. I hope they get to me before my first assignments in those classes are due...
In unrelated news, I am now a proud owner of my very own pool cue. My buddy George gave it to me, simply because he doesn't use it anymore anyways. As I'm too cheap to actually fork out for one myself, I'll take a hand-me-downer any day. It's nothing to shout about, it's a two-piece graphite cue which he bought for about $40 bucks from Wal-mart back in the day. Now, this was waaay back, when Wal-mart used to carry good stuff, not the cheap "Made in China" bulk purchases that they carry today. He even had it customized, changed the tip and weighted and all that. Heck, you can see the scuff marks on the shaft where he tried to DIY it and sand it down in his garage, LOL!
Man, this cue has a history. In fact, I'm a little intimidated by it. It's a pool hustler's cue. (George!) He's made a lot of money with it, and now he has two other $1000+ cues that he uses - money that he earned with the cue now in my possession. It's kinda sad, in a way - retired because you've been replaced with others that you helped earn. If this cue had a soul, it'd be pissed. And I have the pissed-off cue. We headed down to a billiard/pool place nearby, to try it out. I could NOT control it. It was like trying to ride a wild, bucking horse. I felt like one of those fabled novice swordsmen who all of a sudden come into the possession of this uber-sword once belonging to a master swordsman. Hopefully I can learn to wield my weapon as well as it's previous owner - George is a heck of a pool player.
Last night I got a visit from
hunnybuns1978 - it was GREAT seeing him again. I haven't seen him in awhile because he moved back to SoCal. Man, he looks good - he's lost about 100lbs since we last saw each other! We sat about and caught up a little - him, Brad and I. He's probably back in SoCal by now, but hopefully the next time he comes back to Fresno he'll not try to be the big social butterfly that he is and jam his 8 gazillion friends into his two-day visiting schedule.
Just got back from another social outing tonight - went out to dinner with Brad, Miharu, Bruce, Joe and Vicki. It was a blast, we went to this cozy little hole-in-the-wall bar/lounge/restaurant. Food was AWESOME. Bartender was FABULOUS. Company was EXCELLENT. All in all, a wonderful evening. (Ha, betcha thought I'd capitalize "wonderful" too, huh? LOL!)
Oh well. That was a good, long post - definitely the longest I've put up in awhile. I'm proud of me. *sniffle~!*
It's off to get some homework done for now - hope you guys enjoyed the update.
