Amu took a deep breath as she tenderly patted Keito’s shoulder who seems to be having a hard time thinking about an operation that can change his future. He just hopes that everything will be okay… everything will be fine… everything will go as planned and be able to see again.
He felt Amu squeezing his hand tightly which made him squeeze back and smile at her. He can’t see anything with his damaged eyes but the gentle touch of Amu is enough to make him secure that he’s not alone with this battle.
Tomorrow is the big day. Amu and Keito just waited and prayed for a miracle to happen with the hope of his operation to be a success.
“Thanks for making me do this…” Keito said with a weak smile but a sense of worry is still evideint on his face.
He thought for a while and just hoped that his girlfriend Haruna is here with him. He just can’t help but to reminisce their fun times together however, his own thoughts faded when suddenly, Haruna’s figure on Keito’s imagination is easily replaced by Amu’s vision. This is unusual for him.
He’s been thinking about Haruna since she left and just hoped that she’ll come back for her. However, the creeping image of him and Amu replaced those moments inside his head.
“You’ll be okay… after tomorrow, you’ll be able to see again” Amu said with a tint of reassuring tone on her part. She then placed a soft peck on Keito’s forehead and allowed him to rest for his big day tomorrow - the day of his much awaited eye operation.
However, Keito’s attempt to rest is disturbed by the sudden opening of the door that revealed a very familiar figure that took Amu by surprise. Amu heard the sound of the opening door which made her turn and look around for clues on who the person was. To her shock, she saw Haruna standing casually on the door and walked slowly towards her direction.
She then gave a small smile on Amu that didn’t fail to give her a tingle on her spine.
“What are you doing here?” Amu remarked within her presence. She just can’t help but to curse her existence after leaving Keito just like that. To her dismay, Haruna just smirked at her and let her facial expression do the talking.
“Thanks for taking care of my boyfriend… I’m just here to take him back!” Haruna replied then went pass through Amu’s shoulder, ready to approach Keito under his white sheets.

“Amu-chan… Did someone come?” Keito asked as he heard another set of footsteps near him.
“Keito-kun…” Haruna started and held Keito’s hand tightly.
By this, Keito went quiet as he perfectly remembered that voice. The voice that he fell in love with… the familiar sound that he never thought that will come back to his side after all this time. She just thought that Haruna left him for good.
“Haruna?” he asked, still quite unsure.
“Hai~ I missed you…” Haruna replied with a silent smile on her face. She then gave Keito a tight hug and suddenly a soft kiss which made Amu’s heart sink down her chest after seeing this.
“Why are you here?” Keito said after they broke their kiss… “I thought you’re not coming back anymore? Amu-chan said you’re not coming back…” he continued while giving off a longing expression on his face. It is true that he missed Haruna so much. He just can’t imagine life without her… until Amu came.
“I’m not gonna do that! I love you… And I’m here to be with you through your operation” Haruna said which made Keito develop mixed emotions inside him. He knows he still love Haruna, but uncomfortable feeling is still lingering through him.
After this scene, Amu then felt the urge to turn around and leave the couple alone. She is indeed furious about the fact that Haruna came back just because she knows that Keito have the chance to regain his vision.
“Whatever makes you happy…” a sudden tear left her eye as she walked slowly outside Keito’s room.

“Amu-chan?”
However, Keito suddenly called for Amu as if knowing what she’s thinking. Amu is only a few steps away to reach the outside of the chamber but Keito’s voice stopped her.
“Where are you going?” he said with a bit of longing on his tone. Haruna was then taken aback by this as she knows that Keito can’t see Amu leaving because of his blindness but still called for her.
“You’ll be here tomorrow to support me with Haruna, right?”
“Un~ of course I will… I promise!” Amu replied with a fake smile and continued her way outside the room and leave these two people enjoy each other’s presence.

*Next Day*
Amu went to the hospital early. She bought about 12 stems of roses which she wished that it is the first thing that Keito will see after regaining his vision.
Amu pulled a soft smile before entering his room, yet, a sudden pull from her behind was felt which made her follow the latter.
“I need to talk to you…” Haruna started whilst guiding Amu away from Keito’s room… “I know you’re my friend and I hate to say this…”
Haruna paused for a while and looked directly at Amu’s eyes with an attempt to go straight to the point.
“Please don’t show yourself to Keito-kun after his operation...” she said quickly which is enough to make Amu’s heart beat come to a slow pace. She just can’t imagine not seeing Keito.
“Huh? Why?”
“He’s been talking about you since yesterday… All the things we talked about is you being all kind and helpful to him” Haruna stated but with an annoyed facial gesture… “I want my boyfriend back. I know I’ve been a terrible girlfriend… but please… Let him forget you” she continued with a plead.
By this, Amu just went silent. She blinked twice trying to process what the girl just said. The paranoid statement of the girl sitting opposite her is enough to make her freeze from where she was sitting. The words “let him forget you” kept echoing inside her head.
“How selfish are you?” Amu struggled to say after regaining half of her composure. Anger aroused and just went through her veins… “Do you really think I’ll leave him just because you said so? I promised him that I’ll be here… So I will do anything to keep my promise”
“Why? Do you like him?” Haruna asked abruptly.
Within an instance, Amu felt speechless. She doesn’t know how to answer this… she felt stupid for not even having the courage to tell the whole world that she started to love Keito Okamoto ever since. She knows for a fact that she’s in love but never had the chance to tell him - just because she knows that he loves someone else. She knows that Keito still loves Haruna… and to her, Keito’s happiness comes first that’s why she’s willing to let go.

Amu then placed all the flowers she was holding to Haruna’s arm and just looked down.
“I lose…” she whispered… “Just promise me you’ll take care of him…”

*Few hours after*
Keito felt himself being assisted by two nurses with Haruna onto another bed, ready for his operation. However, he felt the sense of emptiness that immediately made him look for it.
“Where’s Amu-chan?” Keito asked Haruna who’s busy placing a white cloth over his lap.
Yet, Haruna thought for a while before answering…
“She’s not coming…” she replied… “She said she’s busy with something”
“B - but… she promised”
“Don’t worry… I’m here for you. We don’t need her here. Just think that you’ll be able to see again after this” Haruna reassured and watched him obediently rest his head on his soft pillow.
“You said you’ll be here till the end… You broke your promise” Keito thought to himself before feeling a silent tear from his damaged eyes.

*3 days after*
The mellow sound of the rustling leaves gave Amu a sense of sadness with the thought of missing the man she loves. She just had the idea that falling in love with him in the first place was never a good one. Amu just knew from the beginning that she’ll be hurt.
As the wind kissed her cheek, she suddenly felt a tingle in her spine which made her wonder what happened to Keito after his operation. Was it successful?
She felt herself giving off a heavy sigh before hearing soft footsteps approaching her. Amu then looked around and saw a familiar man walking slowly with a stick to guide him through his path.
In an instance, Amu stood up and walked towards Keito who seems to be struggling finding his way - still with a white bandage covering his eyes.
“Keito-kun?” Amu asked then guided the man on the bench… “What are you doing here? And… and… the operation didn’t work?” she continued and felt a series of tear drops coming off her eyes.
“You broke your promise…” Keito started… “You said you’ll be by my side.”
“I - I’m sorry… I…” Amu struggled to speak after seeing his state with tears still evident on her face. She’s convinced that the operation failed and it was all her fault. She can’t help but to feel guilty.
However, before letting Amu finish her sentence, Keito immediately pulled up his hand and placed on finger on the surface of her lips. His other hand then went through Amu face and wiped her tears continually but now, with a smile on his face.
“It’s a good thing these bandages are still left on my eyes… because I don’t want to see you crying. Never in my life I wanted to see you cry” Keito said almost in a whisper before placing a soft kiss on her cheek… “I love you…”
After this proclamation, Amu froze and just struggled to look for words.
“You’re the first one I want to see after I let myself free from these bandages… Only you”
“Eh? The operation worked?” Amu asked… “And Haruna… she -“ she continued, still struggling to form coherent sentences.
Yet, to her disappointment, Keito just replied simply…
“Haruna let me go… and about the operation…” he paused for a while and cupped the face of the girl sitting next to him before leaving another kiss, but now, on her lips… “I think I’ll be able to see your beautiful face after a week”
