Nice demo reel, Jake!

Aaron was featured in the lifestyles section of the New York Post. The whole idea came when he was talking to the writer of the article about his calculator. An entire article about different tools and gadgets for different profession was born! Aaron comes off as a total stoner. (True?)

THE MECHANCIAL ENGINEER
Aaron, 25
Salary estimate: $65,000
Job: We design and work with contractors who create building systems and make sure they are doing it correctly.
CLOTHES
"Since I only go to meetings once or twice a week, I don't have to wear suits often. Pretty much, the more math you do, the less you have to dress up. I'm glad I do more math."
Shirt: He's wearing a Kenneth Cole shirt from Macy's, $45, and a jean jacket from Rip Curl, $50. "I wear a button-up long-sleeve shirt in white or blue. In fact, that's a very engineering thing to do, to wear white. I get my shirts from Kohl's, H&M or Macy's. Sometimes I'll jazz things up with a corduroy blazer from H&M or a jean jacket."
Shoes: "My shoes are Johnston & Murphy "Corbett" from Dillards [$160]. Or I'll wear boots. I'm pretty low maintenance. I only have four pairs of shoes total and it only takes me 20 minutes to get ready. I have two pairs of black shoes, one nice and one less nice, and pair of brown casual shoes and a pair of brown Dr. Martens boots."
BAG
"I have a Manhattan Portage Bag [$60]. I see a lot of people with them. It's a pretty standard messenger bag, really rugged and durable."
In his bag at all times: Pencils, sketches, a catalog of mechanical and electrical equipment, a Leatherman beer opener, flashlight, tape measure, colored pencils.
TOOLS
Calculator: "I use a black TI-86 programmable graphing calculator, $133, with a 128x64 pixel display. This ranks in the Corvette range of calculators. It is fast, stylish and handles like a dream. The Ferrari of the lot is the TI-89 [$169], which is just about reserved for midlife crises or graduate students. Sooner or later the TI-89 over at Staples will be calling my name too loud to pass up on it."
Legal Pads: "I have four or five legal pads on my desk at any time and printouts of equipment."
Tape Measure: "In college, the ratio of male to female engineers was 20:1, it's kind of like a boys club. We even have tape measure competitions to see who can stretch a tape measure farthest without having it snap. Pretty much the person who has the FatMax (model with extra wide tape) [$29], wins.
Scale: "It's a little ruler about 8 inches long that you can scale drawings on. It's always with me. I get them for free at work."
GROOMING
"I haven't had a hair cut in six months. I usually let my hair grow for six months and then shave it at Jean-Pierre [$23].
TASTES
Nightlife: "We go to happy hour every Thursday and out every Saturday and Sunday. Since I work with my best friends, when the weather is nice we go to the park and play Frisbee and football. My favorite bar is The Patriot (110 Chambers St.)."
Booze: "We mostly drink beer, I think that's typical of engineers. When we go to The Patriot, we drink PBR. My favorite beer is Fat Tire. It's from a microbrew in Fort Collins, Colo. You can't get it around here. My favorite beer from the Northeast is Magic Hat No. 9."
Music: "The last show I saw was Lamb of God at Roseland. Before that I saw Slayer at Hammerstein. I'm going to see this crazy two-piece band called Lightning Bolt in Brooklyn on Thursday."
Movies: "I like all sorts of different movies. The last movie I saw was 'Grindhouse.' It was pretty much awesome. On TV I watch a lot of sports and comedy and a lot of nonfiction stuff (not reality shows) but like Discovery Channel."
