Poor, poor shoes...
Why is it that I always wear cute shoes on days like this? The argument could be made that I'm always wearing cute shoes, of course, but that's not entirely true. Sometimes I wear tennis shoes or low-top Doc Martens (or CROCS...but not often in public).
Anyhow, I'm reminded of an episode of Girlfriends (shut up it was on at the gym) in which one of the women in the cast was profusely apologizing to her shoes for wearing them in the rain. I remember completely identifying with that notion...as I am often apologizing to inanimate objects. When I was a kid I used to apologize to things that I ran into (for instance, "I'm sorry chair, excuse me.")...when we went ghost-hunting I apologized to the dead folks if I thought I had walked over a grave (but who's to say they were inanimate MUAHAHAHAHA!).
So, I unashamedly and preemptively apologize to my shoes for wearing them in the rain. I'm so, so sorry shoes. Really.
