Another web-based utility that blew me away - TripIt.com. The idea is simple - typically, to organize your travel itineraries, you have to:
- log into the respective app
- provide the dates of travel
- your mode of transportation
- your flight/train/bus numbers with the relevant times and timezones
- origin and destination
- confirmation number (optional)
With TripIt, all you do is forward your travel confirmation mail(s) to plans@tripit.com. That's it.
TripIt sends you back a mail with a link that leads to a page that displays your entire journey chronologically with added bits like weather information and travel maps.
Some son-of-a-gun figured out that there are a limited number of formats in which travel itineraries are available. A parser recognizes the information that a traveler would care about and displays it in an easy to read format.
Simple and gets things done. Beautiful.
