They'd have to be beyond stupid to break their beloved CCCP+MPC (Media Player Classic) combo. The ones that got broken are VLC (what else is new?) and mplayer (if a certain configuration is missing), so Windows users not on VLC probably weren't affected (since no one seems to use the Windows version of mplayer anyway). However, the rest of the world pretty much is divided in VLC and mplayer users (no offense to xine).
Aha! I knew someone would fix my exploit using regex, so the new version of the subtitle script breaker (v1.3) already has code in place to make it a whole lot harder to regex out :D
Sorry I don't get this, I can load the subtitles, but when I close the player the subtitle are not there, how do I keep the subtitles. Not really good with all this code stuff, I try to follow the guide but my vlc player had different things.
Do you mean like, you can watch it with the subs you load, but if you open it again it won't work anymore? It's supposed to be like that, because the subs are on a separate file. You'd have to use mkvmerge to get them into the file.
Or can't you watch the episode with the external subs at all?

If only gg had as much respect for their viewers.

Sigh... I feel for the Mac users. I get the impression that what they have to deal with is a combination of the worst sides of Windows and *nix.
