Just got done watching this year's Doctor Who Christmas special "Voyage of the Damned" via YouTube. Yes, not the proper way to watch it. Oh well.
In general, I thought it was good. Brilliantly executed and all, great quotes from the Doctor. But the thing that bothers me is that it was darker than the previous year's special, "Runaway Bride."
The story is that the Tardis is rammed by a ship named the Titanic shortly after the events of "Last of the Time" ("Time Crash" appears not to have happened.) The Titanic is naturally not the same one that was sunk by an iceberg long ago, but a spaceship, which, much like its namesake, was a passanger liner. Needless to say, its met with disaster after its shields are sabatosed, soon after getting pummled by meteors. What's worse is that the ship's "hosts," robots in the form of angels, soon go after the surviving crew, the Doctor and his band of survivors, including Rose-in-Training Astrid (she's not that bad, probably better, but the romance subplots of the last 10 or so years, including the Movie, are getting a little old... maybe Donna can do something about that.)
...Anyways, I think you see my point about it being dark. A dark story isn't exactly very Christmassy.
...Not sure what else to add...
