Eastern Oddyssey

So a few months ago I mentioned a road trip to Canada.  Well...it's expanded a bit since then.  See, I didn't want to just try to drive straight up there (because I'm not entirely crazy) so I thought I'd stop in Washington, DC and Boston along the way.  And then I got to thinking about the drive back and what else I might do.  And then, heck, why not leave a day early and squeeze in one more thing?

So it's ballooned into an 18 day extravaganza, complete with my usual vacation tactic of trying to see way more than I should and I'll probably run myself ragged, but hope to have a great time doing it.

First, here's my Google Map showing my overall route.

Day 1 - Drive to Gatlinburg, TN -> see Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies.
Day 2 - Drive to Washington, DC -> see as much of the following as possible in 2.5 days:  WWII Memorial, Air and Space Museum, Natural History Museum, American History Museum, National Zoo, National Aquarium (in Baltimore), Newseum, and assorted monuments.
Day 5 - Drive to Boston, MA -> see as much of the following as possible in 2.5 days: My cousin and his wife, New England Aquarium, New England Zoo, Boston Museum of Science, maybe a few other things I haven't decided on yet.
Day 8 - Drive to Pugwash, NS -> relax and see as much of the province as I can in about 5 days, as well as a good friend and her daughter who live there.  Cape Breton, Bay of Fundy, and possibly Halifax and Prince Edward's Island are all on the list.  Newfoundland would be awesome, too, but that might be reaching a bit.
Day 14 - Drive back to Boston, MA -> My cousin has graciously allowed me to stay at his house one more night so I don't have to pay for a hotel.
Day 15 - Drive to Mystic, CT -> see Mystic Aquarium, then Drive to New York, NY -> see New York Aquarium (this is the one I'm not so sure about...2 aquariums in one day might be tricky)
Day 16 - Drive to Columbus, OH -> see Columbus Zoo
Day 17 - Drive to Knoxville, TN -> see Knoxville Zoo
Day 18 - Drive home, collapse

Ambitious?  Yes.  But it sounds like a grand adventure and I'm totally looking forward to it.  Expect to be inundated with pictures when I come back.  Or maybe even while I'm gone...the Internet is everywhere.

Any advice on places to stay along the way, things to do in the named cities besides what I've named, or even general head shakes and mutters of 'crazy' are welcome.
