First, I'd just like to say that anybody that didn't come to the
ARTC show this past weekend really missed out. It was a kickass show. Sometimes I feel stressed out by how much I try to do with ARTC, and not long ago I was thinking I might want a break, but shows like this can energize you...you get reminded of what a huge potential the art form in general and this group in particular have. So if you didn't come to see The Brides of Dracula, mark your calendars now to see All You Zombies... on April 28 and 29. No, it's not another monster-type thing. It's a time-paradox story by Robert Heinlein.
And now I've been tagged by

The short answer is that I made it up.
The long answer is that I was working at this place called OfficialStuff.com that was trying to sell the same programs you might buy at major sporting events and have them to you by game time. They sold programs for The Masters, the Super Bowl, the Grammys, etc etc. The idea was that you could watch the event on TV but still have the program as if you were there. Great concept, lousy execution. Just another crash-and-burn from the dot.com days. Anyway, there was this girl at work named Treva who I kinda liked. Meanwhile, back at home, I was writing code for Asgard's Honor, a MUD I used to play (and still login to occasionally) and needed a name for a monster I was writing. Since Treva was on my mind I was playing around with variations on that theme, but since I liked her and the monster in question was a demon lord I wanted something that sounded similar but wasn't her actual name. Also the letter 'Z' sounds cool. After a while I settled on Ashtrez'a. (Apostrophes are also cool, even if LJ doesn't like them in usernames).
The weird part of this is that much, much later, when I was writing the rest of the area I decided to make the names of the rest of the demons anagrams for other words. So I have "Mithsec," an alchemist, anagram of "Chemist". I also have "Charmosk," a druid, anagram of "Shamrock". That kind of thing. As I was doing this I began thinking I'd change the name of the demon lord to be an anagram of something, too, but I changed my mind because I would have had to rewrite a ton of code to be consistent. And then I realized that Ashtrez'a was only one letter away from already being an anagram of my character's name on the MUD, which was Zarathos. If only I'd named the demon "Ashtroz'a"...
Oh, and I have no idea whatever happened to Treva.
