It was an interesting con this year. I didn't go to a single panel and got blisters on my feet the first day (long story that involves the people at Kinko's being stupid and having to walk to a different one) and I was tired a lot, but it was still good fannish fun. The
ARTC shows went very well and sales seemed to be good, so there ya go.
This report isn't going to be as detailed as some people's, but I do have a few pictures to share.
First, when I post pictures here I generally crop and resize them. This time all I did was a little resize to keep them from being too big to download and not so much cropping. Sometimes the stuff in the background is more interesting than what you were shooting and you don't notice until later. On with the show...
This one annoyed me a little. It's Spider-Man with Nick Fury shining his shoes. A really funny sight to see. Unfortunately the scene was backlit, my camera didn't flash, and by the time I adjusted the setting they had broken the pose. So I adjusted this one a little, which is why it looks way overexposed. That's the thing about Dragon*Con...shots can come and go in an instant. Every time I missed a shot I reminded myself that I had just taken 6 others that would have been impossible just last year.
These guys cracked me up. Tetris blocks that wandered around separated, but when people took their picture they joined up. This was taken from the second floor of the hotel, hence the blurriness.
A pink space marine that
gypsy_dreams would have liked. If she still reads my jounal, I hope she enjoyed this picture.
"Aren't you a little primitive to be a stormtrooper?"
Merchandising run amok. ;)
Two Wonkas, no waiting, plus an assortment of pimpa loompas.
I must confess... I didn't expect this guy.
I just missed this one. Mary Jane with the gun is funny enough, but one second prior she had been aiming it at the floor below. Also, if you look in the background, you can see Spider-Man checking under Superman's cape...for something. Dude, you don't pull on Superman's cape!
This guy was awesome. I first saw him in the back of the ballroom when ARTC was doing its Friday night show, but since I was on stage I couldn't get a picture. Luckily I saw him again in the dealer's room of all places.
No clever comment, this just looked neat.
Saw this one as I was helping move some stuff from the Hilton to the Hyatt (unpleasant trip...). It was on a door down a hallway with a red carpet.
And that's it. I bought 3 t-shirts and a couple of new games (Iron Dragon or TransAmerica, anyone?) and some new dice. I also found out that there's a new game store in town near Georgia Tech, so I may be starting to do some weekend gaming again, as time permits. I do have one bit of bad news...traditionally I buy presents for my out-of-town friends who didn't attend the convention. This year I wasn't able to do that. Having just parted ways with my job was an influencing factor, as was the fact that I just didn't see anything I thought was worth it. I'll try to make it up to you all next year.
