[BPAL] Oblivion

I've been remiss in bpal blogging. The system at work is down right now, so I'm doing a little artsy-wanking:

Night in the underground is dark beyond black. The caverns that make up the Undercity are huge and claustrophobic in the same stroke, and the air is filled oppressively with smoke.

A figure moves through the darkness, surefooted. Her fingertips brush the sides of buildings, the abandoned carts of merchants who fled the Undercity when the Beast came. She picks her way through the rubble, unaware that anyone is watching her.

A bright light flashes on, catching the girl in the beam. She doesn’t flinch, doesn’t seem to notice. She digs through a bit of debris, pulls loose a box. She puts it to her nose and inhales deeply before fumbling for the pack on her back.

The Watchers strike then, grabbing her before she has even a chance to scream. The box drops to the ground while they subdue her, eventually dragging her off. Finally, a single Watcher remains, standing in the place where she had been. He picks up the box, curious to know what caught her fancy. Upon opening, it smells of sweet, dark wood, of a drug from a time long since past. It smells of the Undercity before the Beast. Furtively, he puts the box in his own pack, praying to the dead gods to keep him safe.
