Somebody's Stupid Girlfriend
My friend who works at a bookstore told me this story recently.
It's a fairly quiet at the time, not many customers needing assistance, when your average mild mannered avid reader walks in, ignores the new releases and general fiction and starts perusing the sci-fi section. Obviously a man who knows what he likes. He selects a book and starts reading the back. Not even a minute later, a young female walks in, blonde, full make-up done, hair done up, tight shirt, mini-skirt, high heels, etc. etc. She picks up a book from the new release shelf without even looking at it, and stands next the Sci-Fi Guy above. Obviously, they're together.
She opens the cover, and looks at the flap and remarks, "Oh my god. This is so stupid. It says it's $19.95 in Canada. Why would I want to know how much it costs in Canada? We're in Coles aren't we?"
Sci-Fi Guy immediately re-shelves the book he was holding, takes the book away from The Blonde, and says "Lets go, we're leaving."
my friend had to excuse himself and go to the back room and laugh for about a half hour... :)
