Politics

While I am not a political junkie by any means - in fact I haven't ever really paid much attention to the issues or cared much about the history of who is running - but I find myself becoming a sponge for all of the information that is being fed to me. Whether it be from co-workers, the news, the internet or whomever.
I think I haven't really paid much notice to it is because I wasn't ever able to vote, so no matter how much I wanted to influence it, I wouldn't be able to. I remember in high school, my American Government teacher would make all the students register to vote in order to pass the class...well if you were old enough at least. I wonder how many of those students have voted in the past, or how many of them will vote now. And if they weren't eligible to register to vote when we graduated, have the registered now?
I am a registered voter and I will most definately be voting this Novemeber.
I don't want to preach or rant about my views and which presidential candidate I support, but I would like to vent about something.

Amendment 2 is ridiculous! If this amendment is passed we will all lose and very valuable right that we may take for granted at the moment. For those of you who do not know what this amendment says please allow me to share:
"Inasmuch as marriage is the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife, no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized."
What this means is, if you are a "couple" as in NOT MARRIED, your significant other will not be able to have anything to do with your wishes unless otherwise stated in a living will. In other words, if you are sick and in the hospital, your significant other will not be able to come into the room unless approved by your immediate family - of course there are better examples, but that is the one that has had the most impact on me. I believe this amendment to be directly targeting the gay community, and it is ridculous seeing as how FL already has the law stating that gay marriage is illegal (Florida Statute 741.212-1, -2 AND -3!!!!).

If you don't vote for anything else, please vote no to amendment 2!
If you want to know more about it please visit sayno2.com

Ok...end my venting.

Thanks for listening....
