As you no doubt know I just love boats, and one of the highlights of going to Plymouth today with three lovely ladies was that a vintage boat festival was taking place. So fresh from attending the Wooden Boat Festival on Lake Union, Seattle, I find myself on the floating pontoon on the Barbican surrounded by the delicious, desirable, delectable and downright gorgeous sailing vessels from small wooden dingies to full blown racing boats such as the fabulous "Drumbeat". Now most have you have realised that there is a fungus growing upon the Downes fizzog and with my weatherbeaten fearures must give me the appearance of a salty old sea dog. So imagine my surprise when I was invited to board one of the most iconic sailing boats of the 20th century. None other than Sir Francis Chichester's "Gipsy Moth IV" Pinch me! I must be dreaming! She is a lot bigger than I imagined but she is proper ship shape. Follows are some of the photos I took....the blurry picture is of the heads as after taking that pic of Concorde's bog I'm now photographing famous seats of easement!
