Jenny was enjoying a nap between studying and going down the pub. After almost a hundred years of anything and everything, she could sleep through a hurricane, and after a year on the Carrier, she could certainly sleep through a Door being opened in the near vicinity. Which would be why she didn't wake up when an orangey rectangle opened up in the middle of the room and a young Palestinian man stepped through it.

Habib ben Hassan, aka the Doctor (no not that Doctor), waited until the Door had closed, then said hesitantly, "Jennifer Sparks?"

Jenny mumbled something about squirrels and rolled over. Very helpful, Jenny, thank you.

Habib sighed and, fearing for his life, reached out to gently poke her shoulder. "Jennifer Sparks?"

Yes, that got her attention very quickly. Before she was even fully awake, Jenny lashed out at the intruder with the lightning. She instinctively restrained herself from killing him, as she would need him for questioning later. She wasn't quite awake enough to add 'also, he might be a high school student' to the list of reasons not to kill. A few moments later she was fully awake, sitting up, and staring at Habib. "What the bloody hell are you doing here?"

Habib's response sounded something like, "Urrrghrrrrmmmm," as he was currently a twitching, smoking mess on the floor.

"Oh, right," Jenny said as she lit a cig. "Well, go on, doctor yourself up, and fix the room up while you're at it--my roommate might wonder about that burnt pork smell. I'll wait."

That was very kind of her. No, really. Habib had heard stories. A few minutes later he sat up, whole and unzapped, and tried again. "Jennifer Sparks."

"That's me, mate. Couldn't you just pick up the phone?"
![](http://userpic.livejournal.com/68888629/13173110)
"No," Habib said apologetically. "This is a matter of utmost secrecy. My predecessors require an audience with you."

Jenny's eyebrows shot up. "Really? Well, in that case." Jenny held out one hand. "Lead on, Macduff."

"My name is Habib," said Habib as he took her hand and they began to fade out of this reality.

"Read a bloody book sometime," was the last thing Jenny said before they disappeared.
