Thinking thinky thoughts

I had a completely unproductive weekend. I had been planning to go to the stitch 'n bitch that one of the guild members was hosting at her home on Saturday, but I never got around to emailing for the address. It turns out that was a good thing, because I was NOT inclined to be sociably acceptable when I got up that morning. Nor did I want to sew or cross stitch or gadget or anything else creative. I was annoyed with the entire world for some reason. So I vented my frustrations on hordes of goblins and ogres and bugbears (oh my!). I don't think I've played that much RPG in two days since college. (Icewind Dale II, in case you were wondering)

But now I'm going to have to bust my butt to finish the new corset for this Friday. I am determined to have a decent (by my standards) costume this year. And the J-san clan is having their party this year after all. He tells me that J-san-sprout will be sushi this year. (D'aw!) Anyway. Corset. It's started, and I'm cannibalizing the boning out of the All-Con disaster to save time. But I still have a ridiculous number of grommets to bang in. 'Ludicrous' may be a better description. If my plan is successful, I have the normal amount for a front and back lacing Victorian AND the same number of back ones for an insert that will have shoulder straps that buckle on to the front sections. Ah. Hrm. I have four evenings to accomplish this. (Darn you, Icewind Dale II! Darn you to heck!) Well, once the corset is finished, it will be perfectly fine to wear alone should the back/strap thingy not get finished. And that back/strap thingy isn't getting bound or boned, so that will also save time. It's basically a fashion fabric piece sewn to a piece of canvas wst and left to fray as it wants to. The idea is it is a slapped together "aftermarket" accessory my skypirate came up with on her own. Hmm...thinking about it that way makes me think that maybe she wouldn't have bothered to match every existing grommet. I had already planned to use a random selection of colors for that piece. Maybe I'll do every other grommet. That would save time. (And grommets)

costuming, thinking out loud, steampunk
