I am finally recovering from a miserable weekend. I got home late Friday evening to find that the power had apparently gone off during the day. Huh. Ok, it does that around here. The stuff in the fridge appears to be alright, so no biggie.
Fast forward to mid-morning Saturday and I wake up uncomfortably warm. Weird, I says, I can hear the AC blowing through the vent. I get up and wander out to visit the little girls room. I always get blasted by cold (or hot, depending on season) air as I pass through the living room because of where the vent is. This time I get blasted by room-temperature air. That stops me in my tracks. I go to look at the thermostat--yep, the AC is on. I pull on some clothes and go outside. Nope--the outside unit is NOT on. Crap. I check the forecast and it isn't supposed to get too hot so I think I can hold out till Monday to call maintenance. I don't like to call afterhours unless it's a real emergency.
The cats and I do nothing but lay around the rest of the weekend doing things that don't generate heat. So we basically watched TV. I didn't do any laundry or run the dishwasher or cook anything because I didn't want to heat up the apartment. I didn't sew because I was warm enough to be cranky. Cranky Ashni + Hobbies = Bad Idea. The cats became quite enamored with the VCT floors. The litter boxes were reeking by the end of the day. (I love the litter I use because it is fairly green, doesn't coat my lungs with clay dust, and is a good price; but it doesn't have built-in reek control)
I did manage to finally watch all of
Solty Rei. Good series, even with the "where the hell are they going with this?" plot and semi-gratuitous Barbie-doll moments involving showers, armor donning, and/or medical experiments. I really love the character designs (although one of them, combined with the English dub actor, made me think that Solty Rei and Witch Hunter Robin were in the same universe). And I want my own
R.U.C Special Security Division uniform.
