Below is a countdown to my top ten (10) favorite movies from the Summer of 2010. Naturally, there are some movies that are missing from the list. Either I never got to see them or I did not like them very much:

10. "The Other Guys" - Will Farrell and Mark Wahlberg co-starred in this hilarious, yet slightly uneven tale about two mismatched New York City detectives who seize an opportunity to become the city's top cops; only things don't quite go as planned.




9. "The Last Airbender" - M. Night Shyamalan directed this adaptation of an animated series is about the adventures of Aang, a young successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.




8. "Knight and Day" - James Mangold directed Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in this action comedy about a woman who becomes tangled with a secret agent who has realized that he was not supposed to survive his latest mission.




7. "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" - Nicholas Cage and Jay Baruchel starred in this Disney fantasy comedy about a master sorcerer that recruits a seemingly everyday guy in his mission to defend New York City from his arch-nemesis. Jon Turteltaub directed.




6. "The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" - Mike Newell directed this surprisingly entertaining Disney adaptation of a video game about the adopted son of the Persian Royal Family who must stop a villain who unknowingly threatens to destroy the world with a special dagger that enables the magic sand inside to reverse time, with the help of a princess. Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Atherton starred.




5. "Salt" - Angelina Jolie starred as a CIA agent that goes on the run after a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy. Phillip Noyce directed.




4. "Robin Hood" - Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett starred in Ridley Scott's adaptation of the origins of the legendary outlaw that battled Norman invaders, a traitorous nobleman and a corrupt king.




3. "The A-Team" - Liam Neeson starred in this fun-filled adaptation of the famous TV series about a group of Special Forces soldiers that seek to clear their names with the U.S. military, for a crime they did not commit. Joe Carnahan directed.




2. "Iron Man 2" - Robert Downey returned in this slightly superior sequel to the 2008 hit movie in which billionaire Tony Stark must contend with deadly issues involving the government, his own friends, as well as new enemies; due to his superhero alter ego Iron Man. Jon Favreau directed.




1. "Inception" - Christopher Nolan wrote and directed this original and highly fascinating tale about an industrial thief who extracts information from the mind of his victims, while they dream. In order to redeem himself and be with his children, he pulls one last job in which he has to plant an idea, instead. Leonardo DiCaprio starred.
