Somestimes a bad day and a step back makes you realize a few things

Public:

So, first off, I want to make a very sincere apology to all you men out there-especially to one in particular, you know who you are! I made a comment on a certain someone’s journal about ALL men being players. I’m sorry, now, that I said that. I should have said ‘most’ or ‘some’ but not ‘all’. I’m not going to give any excuses or tell you why I said what I said because I’d only be wrong or it would just come back to bite me in the ass like it did on that person’s journal. Do I believe that men are players? Some. But that goes for women as well. Women can be players, they can use men to get what they want. Some women can be tramps, or whores, or in my case idiots. I hope that you all can forgive me for throwing you all into the same bucket. I was wrong and I can admit it.

Now that I have that off of my chest I promised Mr. Brandon that I would post a journal on dragons. Give you all a little lesson from the Almighty Ashlynn, I think is what he called me. Anywho, if you know me then you know that I have a fondness for dragons. A nickname I was given way back when I was but a mere girl was ‘Dragon’ as well as ‘Red Dragon’ I was given that nickname because of my fiery hair and my quick temper, my loyalty and my readiness to jump to protect the ones that I love. An old friend of mine, one that so named me Dragon, says that he gave me the nickname not only because of the reasons I gave above, but because he swears my eyes gleam like a dragons when I’m ready to fight for what is mine. When asked how he knows what a dragons eyes looks like he goes… “I’ve seen DragonHeart! But you just have that essence that just seems to belong to a dragon!” *giggles* I’m surprised that he doesn’t call me DragonHeart, haha. Anyway, I digress. I like dragons, my first bellybutton piercing was of a dragon and I have several dragon-like items and one day I may maim my body for a dragon tattoo… So, let’s get on with this lesson before I lose you all…

Dragons have long enchanted us through stories, artwork, and legend. The lion may be king of the jungle, but the dragon is king of mythology. Dragons are mythical creatures that appear in many different cultures and time periods. Dragons have been described as monsters, serpents, reptiles, or beasts. There are two distinct cultural traditions of dragons: the European dragon, derived from European folk traditions and ultimately related to Greek and Middle Eastern mythologies, and the Chinese dragon, with counterparts in Japan, Korea, and other Asian countries. The English word ‘dragon” derives from Greek δράκων (drákōn), “dragon, serpent of huge size, water-snake”, which most likely comes from the verb δρακεῖν (drakeîn) "to see clearly".

Okay, so that was a little bit of a history lesson somewhat. Just a quick rundown. Now, let me see what else I can pull from this mind of mine to tell you.

Dragons are usually thought to have wings and breathe fire. They also are said to have scales and claws. Some also have horns. Almost always they are said to be venomous. Some dragons may have two or more heads. They may also have more than one tail. They may have two, four or even more legs; however, most are known to have four legs. Dragons are said to eat things such as rats, birds, snakes, bats, or even humans, especially children.

They are associated with wisdom, something I’ve been lacking here lately. Chinese dragons are said to be able to take on human form and are usually seen as benevolent. If you look up that word (that is if you don’t already know the meaning) you will see that it fits me. I’m a Chinese dragon in human form…haha.

There are several regions that have their take on the dragons. Greek Mythology, European, Chinese, Japanese, Vedic, Indian, Persian and Jewish. Though they might think a little differently on dragons, the one thing is the same, it’s always serpent like. I guess that you could look at a dragon much as you would a snake, though I believe there is much more to them then that. Almost all dragon stories portray the dragon as the villain from whom the hero must protect the city or the princess. But some dragons can take on the form of the protector. The biggest differences in dragons usually come from different cultures, especially the cultures of the East and the West. Each culture seems to have their own idea about dragons. I believe them to be not only guardians, but loyal as well.

In modern fantasy, dragons are usually defined by their color. There are many different types of dragons. From cruel and vile to cunning and majestic, dragons have inspired, or terrorized, many throughout history. All are a force to be reckoned with. Two of the main kinds of dragons in modern fantasy are metallic dragons, which are good, and chromatic dragons, which are evil. Let’s start with chromatic dragons-black dragons, red dragons, blue dragons, green dragons, and white dragons.

Black dragons are vile, evil tempered and obsessed with death. They find comfort in the sickening-sweet aroma of drowned, rotting carcasses. (ew) Be weary of the Black dragons as they prefer surprise attacks instead of fair fighting

Red dragons are greedy and covetous, and obsessed with increasing their treasure hoards…okay, I’m going to have to say that I don’t want to be called Red Dragon anymore O.o They live in warm habitats and are vain, cunning and terrible. With a long, red, forked tongue, tiny flames dance in his nostrils when angry. The eyes gleam with unrestrained greed when having seen treasure. Very territorial, they also breath a deadly fire.

Blue dragons are pensive, lawful, and vain. Eyes are a smooth, glossy and without pupils that you may feel as though you are looking into eternity. Preferring to attack in ambush, surprise and distance is the ally. They enjoy sitting and reflecting and is blue-blooded (that is to say, cold, effete, or noble.) Lawful, they have some sense of morals. Good at tracking and breathes lightening.

Green dragons are a belligerent creature and master of intrigue, politics and backbiting and is cruel. Not overtly aggressive, they prefer to concoct elaborate schemes to gain power or wealth with little effort as possible. A liar and master of verbal evasion, just talking to one can lead to ruin. When attacking, they stalk their prey first, sometimes for days. Camouflage is the advantage and they are obsessed with life and growth and wants to live eternally and is envious. Also a good tracker, they like to instill terror in lesser opponents before torturing them to death.

White dragons are small and intelligent. They travel alone and have very good memories. Be on guard with a white dragon as they are swift and alert. Your best bet is to scare or intimidate them, as they are sometimes known to be cowardly.

Now that we have the evil out of the way, let’s move on to Metallic dragons which are good. All dragons have the choice whether to be good or evil (as do us all), but there are some general tendencies based on type. Unlike chromatic dragons, which are usually evil, metallic dragons are usually good. I say don’t judge a dragon by it’s cover.. There are five kinds of metallic dragons: brass, bronze, copper, gold, and silver.

Brass dragons are the most gregarious of all dragons, and are famous for their love of conversation. They have supple, expressive lips which are very useful as they like to do lots of talking. They also breath fire.

Bronze dragons have a strong sense of justice and do not tolerate cruelty or anarchy in any form. They are also inquisitive.

Copper dragons have a well-deserved reputation as incorrigible pranksters, joke-tellers, and riddlers. Excellent jumpers and climbers they love sharing jokes and will eat almost anything.

Gold dragons are champions against evil and foul play. They often embark on self-appointed quests to promote good.

Silver dragons enjoy helping the meek and the lowly. They often concern themselves with protecting the innocent and healing their injuries. They are nonviolent and avoid combat whenever possible and are the most sensitive of all dragons.

Do any of you find it odd that I can find more info on the ‘evil’ dragons than the ‘good’ dragons?

Anyway, though I’m sure that I could go about dragons I think I’m done filling your head with a bit of fun, useless knowledge.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Shaun:

I know that I… gah this is hard to know where to start. I don’t want to give you excuses as to why I acted the way that I did earlier because I know it will be of no use, and they are just excuses. I’m not usually that way. You have known me long enough to know that I’m not like that on a general note. I was just having a bad day and I‘m stressed and… there I go trying to give excuses.

I suppose this is our first fight and it was over something stupid and I hope that you can forgive me. What I had been telling Mekhi, I had been joking around to begin with and then it seemed as if I weren’t and it just went to a whole new level of stupidity with me.

I know I told you that if you wanted to know what I thought of you, to just ask. Of course you didn’t respond back and I really wasn’t expecting you to, so I’m going to tell you here…now.

I think that you’re a kind man, with a big heart which makes you caring. And though you have a tough exterior, you have a gentle soul. You’re intelligent and very goal-oriented I think. You know what you want and you go after it and I like that about you. You are a good man, Shaun. A good man that probably deserves someone better than me.

Becca:

I need a good, hard slap across the face. STAT!

Private:

I’m a complete idiot. What I did today was so…beneath me. I don’t even know what the fuck my problem is. No, I do know what my problem is, I just don’t know how to explain it at least some of it. I just need to grow the fuck up and put on a set of sexy big girl panties and deal with life.

*sigh* It doesn’t help that I received a letter in the mail from my bastard ex with pictures of him and his pregnant wife. Yeah, he wanted to rub it in.

You know, fuck that! I use Joey as an excuse to sabotage anything good in my life, but it’s not him, it’s me. Why should I care about him anymore? I shouldn’t. Sure I spent a good portion of my life with him but you know life goes on. I’m ending this tonight. I’m going to take all the pictures that I have of he and I together, every single one of them, and I’m going to burn them. Every letter that I have, I’m going to burn as well as anything else that ties me to him. I’m going to set myself free of him and the next time I receive a letter from him I won’t open it. No, I’ll send it back. Yes… that feels right, feels good. Tonight, I’m setting myself free.
