If I was your Vampire [part 2/?]

Chris kept looking around the living room and skipped towards the bookshelf. He scanned the entire shelf with complete intrigue. His hand ran over every book lightly while he nodded at each title.

“Wow, are all these books yours?” He turned towards me, stepping into my personal bubble yet again.

“Uh, yeah, I read a lot, some of them are recipe books for my mom but the rest are mine.” I took a deep breath; I wasn’t used to people being so close to me. Hayley was the only person I talked to and well she’s hugged me once.

“Oh, that’s really cool, I read a lot too. I don’t have any friends because we move a lot. By the time I make a friend, we’re packed up to go to a new city.” He frowned.

“Well, I’ll be your friend. I could use more friends.” I smiled touching his shoulder. His gaze dropped to his shoulder. I dropped my hand and murmured a sorry. He looked into my eyes and smiled. The atmosphere changed and I wasn’t so tense. He opened his arms and pulled me into a hug. Completely surprised, I slowly wrapped my arms around him. Strangely enough I felt safe and comfortable.

After Chris had left, I made a b-line for the phone. I dialled with speed. It rang four times and I hung up and dialled again. After the second ring, Hayley answered. She was in the middle of testing the lock for her window, being her cautious self.

“Hello?” She answered sounding a little paranoid.

“Hey, Hayley, it’s Mitchell. The weirdest thing happened and I had to call and tell you.” I rushed with my words, I just had to tell her and get it out of my system.

“What is it? Is it something bad? Should I go into my panic room?” She said nervously. The sad fact is that she actually has a panic room.

“No no, nothing like that. Calm yourself. This guy named Chris showed up at my door and at first I was surprised but he was really nice so I agreed to be his friend. We talked about books and how we don’t really have friends and he gave me a hug and you know I don’t really like hugs but this hug was really nice. It felt really nice.” I stopped and waited for her to process what I had said.

“Okay so...a guy named Chris showed up at your door, you’ve never met him before and he wants to be your friend? Am I correct so far?” she had sourness to her voice.

“Don’t forget he hugged me and it felt amazing.” I smiled to myself.

“Are you gay?!” she interrupted my pleasant thoughts.

“NO! And what if I was?! Would you go all homophobic on my ass?!” I was worried of her answer. I never thought of being gay but I also never thought of being straight and now I was confused.

“No! No, listen Mitchell, if you were gay, I’d be fine with it. You’re my friend and I care for you. But one thing, if you like this guy, be careful because he doesn’t know you and you don’t know him yet. Take it easy and think about it.” She sighed.

Hayley was right, Hayley was always right. I am now confused about my sexuality for the first time in all my seventeen years. I’m one for jumping to conclusions. Chris might just be really friendly. He might just like hugs or something like that. The point is, I need to get to know this intriguing new person before I do anything.
