Remembering...

May 26, 2008 10:05

Today I remember ALL servicemen, servicewomen and first responders who have laid their life on the line for my freedom!  More specifically I am remembering :

Gene Sears (David's grandfather) who bravely served in WWII in the army.  He was an amazing and compassionate man with a big heart! RIP grampa...we miss you!

Gene Sparks (My grandfather) who bravely served in WWII in the navy as a cook upon a warship.  He was quite the spitfire but had a kind heart.  RIP grampa...we miss you a lot!!

Richard Turnley (My uncle) who bravely served in the Vietnam war as a helicopter pilot.  He really put his life on the line flying troups in and out of the warzone.  He never was the same once he came back home, and never really talked about his experience.  RIP Uncle Rich! I hope you're celebrating your first memorial day pain free and happy!

And...

Chris Miller  (My BIL) who served in Qatar during this war several times.  Hes a great guy whom proudly served our country and is now working as a civilian.  Love ya Chris!

As I remember these great men, I also mourn them.  My uncle just passed away in February and it was still very fresh yesterday during our church service honoring memorial day.  My grandfather has been gone for...wow, a year now.  I still miss his laugh and his "spitfiredness"...he was so funny!  David's grandfather has been gone for 4 years now.  We were the last two people to see him alive before he had his heart attack in the ER...I was closer to him at the time than I was my own grandparents.
