Today was interesting. The weekend was awesome -- not at all what I expected, and some definite AHH moments but really, really great as a whole. Today, though, was the day that my flippin' professor reamed me. I actually looked up the actual definition for "ream" and it is to enlarge or bore holes in something, as with a reamer. I'm pretty sure that is a fabulous description of my professor today because she went off about the fact that most of the class has not been able to complete assignments on time. I had to turn in my essay a couple of days late because I had so much going on, on top of the WEDDING this weekend, which I obviously couldn't miss... So this other girl in my class still hasn't turned in her essay, and another girl, whose essay was due today, came with nothing and said it wasn't done. Another girl didn't finish her essay and didn't even show up to class. Therefore, the professor starts going off about how no one is doing what is expected of them, etc. etc. She tells the girl who still hasn't turned in the essay that was due this weekend that as a freshman it is understandable that she is getting adjusted to colege (this late in the academic year??), but then turns to me and flips. She's like, ASHLEY! YOU'RE A SENIOR! WHAT IS GOING ON?!? Granted, I take responsibility for the fact that my essay was late. It's not surprising that my grade will be reduced somewhat. But that's not enough to warrant her screaming at me. So calmly, and conveying my confusion, I was like, this is the first time that I've turned in anything late in this class. I'm a good student, and it's obvious that this is not a habitual thing. Then she's all, well, you've missed a class. And I said, yes, when I was very, very sick. That's all I said, but let's keep in mind the fact that the one class I missed, I had just passed out because of seriously low iron and a temperature that was over 100. I also came to class feeling horrible just to hand in the work that was due that day. And, let's also keep in mind the fact that there was one particular class in which I should have left early given the massive headache I had during that two and a half hours, yet I still participated in class as much as humanly possible. I have put serious effort into this class even while working on my senior thesis and being sick and being an in general very busy person. I understand that we're all busy people and that late essays deserve a grade reduction, but let's leave it at that and not scream at students for a single offense. And, when I miss class because I'm sick, regardless of whether or not a doctor's note is given to the professor (because the flippin' clinic on campus charges per visit now, and off campus clinics are not only inaccessible to me but also don't take my insurance), just trust me and give me a break.
AHHH. Stab me a little.
In other news, I have an extensive quotation in the spoof issue of the Triton, and llamas and hot dishes are mentioned numerous times.
Oh and I am also going to be the next one to get married, apparently. We'll see how that goes.
