I've played around with Second Life, but I've found it rather pointless in the end. Sure, I could learn how to build things, but only things for Second Life.

Since you can convert L$ to $, you could build stuff to sell. Some people even get by with writing scripts to sell.

Minimum wage would be nice.

How about a compiler that takes a more "natural" language and compiles to LSL? It doesn't have to be as elaborate as Inform 7, but anything that'll help non-scripters write code will get you major L$.

The culture of creation is also very materialistic. Everyone wants money (virtual money, but there's a conversion market) for their creations. As someone who spends much of his time creating software to give away, I find that quite off-putting.

I played around with it and didn't get as far as finding it pointless. It was merely tedious and annoying.
