Jettas Rule

After brunch at Toast, I picked up a soy latte at the Starbucks on Webster. I was going to take the baby for a run with the SUV Stroller, but I remembered that the front wheel is kind of squeaky. Since Active Endeavors is so far from Belden, and because I didn't want to risk any accidents, I called up one of the flunkies from my old firm's mail room who is good with bikes and mechanical things. Eric, who lives in Bucktown and now works as a bicycle messager, cheerfully agreed to come over and grease up all the stroller wheels. While I waited him to ride over, I finished the Sunday papers and spied a fabulous Sun-Times article about my beloved Jetta. Here's the money quote:

"It once was thought that people bought a Jetta because they couldn't afford costlier Audi A4 models, which really weren't all that much better than the Jetta despite Audi's more prestigious nameplate. But that thinking has largely disappeared because Volkswagen has more of an upscale image in America"

Even though I can afford a far more expensive car than my 2002 Jetta, I like to set a smart and frugal example for all of the Trixies in Lincoln Park and beyond.
