it's been a few weeks since i've updated... as usual. i'm in boone, settled into my nifty apartment. winkler is hXc (hardcore). i've got my own room and i share a kitchen & a living room with rachel and another girl. it's a four bedroom apartment, but the 4th girl apparently dropped out of school. no good. they might put someone else in here, but we're not sure.
school is going all right. out of my education courses, one of them is primarily taught by a three team of professors. one of which is a fun old man, the other is a middle aged woman whom i haven't decided how much i like. the other ed class is taught by two old men. one of them (my primary professor) is a cute, happy hippy. the other is a totally sarcastic guy who is a hilarious straight man to the jumpy chihuahua-ness of the other one. then i'm retaking both world civilizations (i did terribly freshman year... being a silly girl who allowed boys to take me away from my studies). my world civ I prof is old, boring and looks like a mad scientist. and he's making us read thick books. if i didn't want to bring up my GPA i'd totally drop this class like it was hot. my world civ II prof is a total turn around. he's a cute old man! he's happy and exciting and tells stories and is effective. he's hXc. my non-history and non education courses this semester are north american indian anthropology and softball/basketball. my n. amer indian professor is hot and funny. lol. short hair, sideburns, glasses, facial hair, scruffy face and voice. i mean, he's probably one of those ashley hot guys that looks like a total dork and only i'd like... but he's still hot. and for whatever reason, i really like anthropology so this class is pretty cool, despite sounding like the worst class ever. my PE course hasn't started yet. it starts mid-September and ends in November and from the e-mail the teacher sent out, it will be all basketball and no softball... which totally defeats the purpose for me taking it... but whatever. it's my senior year... if i take a class about lay-ups and dribbling, at least it'll be easy. unless we do suicides. *shudders* i effin' hate suicides.
senior year social life is awesome. i live with one of the cutest people ever. my friends are always here, if i'm not at their apartments. i can see that becoming a problem quickly, since i've already blown off time i've set aside for school work to hang out and such... i'm gonna try to work on that. spend a lot of time with wifey, which is cool. i have been partying a bit much... i threw a party last weekend in my room... only it wasn't as much of a party as it was a small get together with huge party outcomes. i had a mad hangover the next day...
and um... lucas. ha. it's exciting. and since all of you know that i've been absolutely in lust with him for forever, then you should all be equally excited that i'm with him :) actually, you don't have to care, but i'm happy.
i spent the weekend (excluding friday) down in hickory/hudson/lenoir with jenn, jonathan (lucas' brother/jenn's fiancé--for those not in the know) and lucas this weekend. saturday we all (plus lucas' friend brian) went to ruby tuesday's. i got an apple martini and a bit tipsy from it. then i played drunken DDR knock-off with jenn at hickory dickory dock and random arcade games. then we played putt-putt golf somewhere else in hickory. then we went to a bar. i had a sex on the beach, chugged it fairly quickly, then ordered a strawberry margarita and a shot of goldschlager. i drank the margarita kind of quickly too, then realized that i was already drunk and gave my goldschlager (though probably the best drink ever) to lucas. jonathan drove around four drunk people in his little import. lucas, brian and i made an ashley sandwich in the backseat and the three of us ranged from kinda tipsy to highly tipsy, but it was fun. on sunday, we went to church in lenoir and the duncans (lucas & jonathan's family) sang. lucas had a solo song. i <3 boys that can sing. i rode with lucas and his cousin in his model T. he's so effin' cool. we went fishing that evening with brian. i couldn't bring it to myself to bait my own worms (stabbing/injuring animals was never something i could deal with) and although the two of them both caught a few small fish, i didn't catch any. i did, however, have a very dramatic encounter with catching a crawdad. i thought my hook was caught on a rock, so i climbed down some rocks to fish it out and pulled up my line with my hands only to find a large crawdad chillin' out with my fake worm (i think lucas was tired of baiting worms that i was feeding to fish, as opposed to using to catch them). i screamed and then threw my line back in to the water. lucas & brian ran over to see why i was screaming (the assumed i caught a fish and was scared of it, too) then laughed at me. i'm a girl and girls suck. after fishing, we went to dinner and then played pool in newton. it's a tough bar looking place and there was rap and hardrock music playing... so i went to the jukebox and played frank sinatra... only this seemed to piss off the entire bar, which being the only girl (and not a very butch nor intimidating one at that) in the place and smiling when i did so, didn't make the situation any better. lucas later told me that it was so cool that i did it... which was awesome.
there are cute stories associated with our getting together, but i'm not gonna get all mushy in my lj.
happy hangovers forever.
so, in my last entry i mentioned that booger had a drinking problem and since then he still has not enrolled in GA (Gasoholics Anonymous) and his habit has become more expensive. Gas is now between $3 and $3.50 in most places, depending on where you are (and of course on the grade). I usually fill up twice a month (usually). At this rate...
23 gallons
x $3.24
$74.52
x 2 /month
$149.04
Now, for $149.04 a month, I'll have already paid for Booger's gas equal to what we paid for him in the first place in a little more than two years. i <3 my jeep. i don't <3 his habits. the worst part is, my love of cars is basically limited to jeeps, big trucks and old cars. these things all have a drinking problem equal to or exceeding that of my beloved booger... so now i'm having to look at new cars without gagging and figure out what to do about my post-graduation situation. i'm thinking a new charger or a 2004 (or newer) stratus r/t (no other model will do!). the r/t gets 21 mpg city and 28 on the highway (for the 2004 model, anyways). the charger gets 18 in the city, 26 highway. both are still better than the jeep, which is supposed to get 18 city, 22 highway. the computer in booger tells me that he averages about 17-18 mpg overall, but i really don't do that much highway travel, unless i'm going home or to hickory (and 321 has basically a curvy, back road feel, so i don't know if i'd consider it a good judge for highway miles except for a 8 mile stretch before you get into lenior)... neither which i have done since i got into boone last month (i reset his computer before i left greensboro). i'd say that my zj gets about 16 in the city and 21 highway... i need a hybrid jeep that gets 105 mpg city and 147 highway. that'd be awesome. it also needs to be a cj-5 painted and decorated like an army replica (ha. like this hottie) or just a m38-a1 (the military version of the cj-5). we actually rode past a cj-5 or cj-7 dressed in olive green and military set-up, but i saw it too quickly to tell which it was. i also saw a jeepster in hickory after church. you don't see too many of those just driving around. it was cool.
anyways. i'm done.
