In Every Thing Give Thanks

One of the lessons God has been working on teaching me over the past year is to remember (and obey) 1 Thess. 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

So, in the spirit of that text, here are some things about living in a small house that I've found to be thankful for:

Yes, less is more is definitely key. Thankfully I was already moving in that direction and had curbed my urge to buy clothes for the girls beyond what they actually need (and even so, I have some hand-me-down clothes that currently fit them (on the large side) in a box in my closet for if they outgrow some of what they currently are wearing. I did have to weed dh's & my clothes a BUNCH to fit in the new closet (& still not sure what we'll do come winter w/ bulkier things) and in some cases, packed away perfectly good "duplicates" that we can use when current thing wear out (ie. t-shirts for both of us, they're not stylish enough to go out of style we just had more than would fit in the closet here, so we kept out 5 or so and packed the rest away for the time being). And craft stuff, since the girls love it, and current financial situation doesn't give us the cushion I'd need to say "I'll donate the extra and buy more as we need it" so that's what several boxes in the storage area (and in the extra storage closet off the bathroom) are. Those will naturally weed down over time, though I suspect we won't be doing much craft stuff this summer w/ all the outside space to play in and explore. I suppose if it gets too hot out we might be more inclined to do indoor activities though (but I'm hoping to keep them outside as much as possible).

Their toys were already weeded way down and even so, I'm going to unpack on an "asked for" basis, so I suspect some things may never get unpacked and will eventually be passed on.

I did alot of weeding out in the kitchen when I reorganized it last summer, so I actually have completely empty kitchen cabinets here LOL. Though at this point most of the food is on the basement shelves so some of it may move into some of the empty cupboards with time.
