An adaptation for Radio 4 of William Boyd’s book Restless has been nominated for best drama at this year’s Sony Radio Academy Awards.
The drama, which starred Eileen Atkins, will compete with BBC Radio Scotland’s Daniel and Mary, People Snogging in Public Places, which was broadcast on Radio 3, BBC World Service’s The Day that Lehman Died, and The Loop, which was broadcast on Radio 4.
Meanwhile, in the comedy category, BBC 6 Music’s Adam and Joe will compete with Bleak Expectations, which starred Anthony Head and Celia Imrie, Mark Steel’s In Town, and News Quiz, all broadcast on Radio 4.
Elsewhere, Frank Skinner’s Absolute Radio show is nominated for best entertainment programme. He will compete with Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott’s breakfast show on Heart, Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon’s breakfast show on Capital 95.8 and The Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show, which is broadcast on Absolute Radio.
Chris Moyles, Christian O’Connell, Lauren Laverne, presenting duo Mike Toolan and Chelsea Norris, and Scott Mills will compete for the title of music radio’s personality of the year.
The Sony Radio Academy Awards will be held on May 10 at the Grosvenor House Hotel and will be hosted by Chris Evans.
