I haven't done one of these for years, just because I didn't write anything for years - there is a long gap between 2016 and 2020 where there's just nothing.
And even then I only posted two things, so I suppose a retroactive 2020/21 Pandemic Fic version would include them:
Ain't No Cure for Those Old World Blues (Fallout: New Vegas, Gen. ~6700 words)
A journal fic based on the Old World Blues DLC. The Courier is not, at this moment, dead. If that changes, and it seems like it could at any moment, these notes and recordings should be taken back to New Vegas.
A Road that Leads to Glory (Fallout: New Vegas, Gen. 8675 words)
A sequel to the previous, dealing with the events of Lonesome Road, and how the Courier, Ulysses, Joshua Graham, and all the events surrounding them are connected.
Since I only apparently write about my video game playthroughs now, 2021 saw a sudden and spectacular fall into writing down my Dragon Age fics instead of just keeping them all in my head. This led to a worldstate collection called
Few Against the Wind, which is longer than my thesis and includes a whole list of things before we even get to the end of DA2. It's meant to go on into Inquisition, but these things take time.
My Hearth is Yours (M!Hawke/Anders, PG-13ish, ~8400 words)
The earliest days of Anders and Julian's relationship, starting from the first night.
An Unquenchable Flame (The Templar Rescue Fantasy) (M!Hawke/Anders, Explicit, ~4900 words)
Based on Anders' line in Mark of the Assassin where he admits fantasizing about Hawke rescuing him from Templars. Julian agrees to play along, they both enjoy themselves immensely.
Become Not a Whisper (The Warden Fantasy) (M!Hawke/Anders, Explicit, ~7800 words)
A sexy follow-up to the Templar fantasy fic. Julian admits to a scenario of his own, Anders makes it happen for him. I'm still rather proud of this one!
Unshaken by the Darkness of the World (M!Hawke/Anders, Ensemble, Mature, unfinished at 116,000 words)
Covers the entirety of DA2 Act III, plus the Legacy DLC. Hawke is stuck in a stalemate with Knight-Commander Meredith while trying to plot against her. Anders is falling apart. People keep trying to kill them.
Vulnerable (M!Hawke/Anders, Explicit, ~9k words)
First time love scene, fits right into the middle of a chapter of My Hearth is Yours. There is mutual exploring, insecurity, and scars. It's a much slower and sweeter piece than either of the other two sexy fics - they haven't got to the 'acting out fantasies' part yet and are still learning each other, admitting feelings and such.
In the Turning of the Seasons (Various, Ficlet collection)
Little scenes that didn't fit anywhere else but still belong in the same world. Carver and Hawke arrive in Kirkwall, Isabela is nosy, and Anders and the Warden-Commander get to know each other in Amaranthine.
Decline and Fall (M!Hawke/Anders, Ensemble, PGish, ~8k words)
I just posted this one yesterday, so it's the last fic of the year! Anders is having more and more blank spaces in his memory and Justice takes over at incredibly dangerous, inconvenient times.
There is one more Dragon Age thing I posted that isn't part of the same world. I had a bunch of little things I'd done over the last few years and never done anything with, and then did a couple of prompt fills:
Fragmentary Evidence (Various)
A collection of where all of those little things go. There is one sneaky Hawke&Varric scene that actually does belong to the future of FWAW, but mostly it's Cousland/Alistair and a few little random things.
For next year:
There are 3 or 4 chapters to go before I finish Unshaken by the Darkness of the World, which ends just before the grand finale of Act III. The final fic of the DA2 portion is already written - it was actually the first thing I did and how all this ridiculousness started. Then there's a vid that goes with it (also finished, but needs a little bit of tightening up I think before it goes anywhere).
Then there's a sequel plotted out, which covers the time between DA2 and Inquisition, which brings back the Warden. There's also a post-DA2 Varric piece partly written, and one about why the Warden actually left Amaranthine after Awakening (and why she couldn't do anything to protect Anders back then).
So basically, this world shows no intention of letting up, and even if there are like 5 people reading any of it, it's still a lot of fun for me! It was apparently a year I got deep into a decade-plus-old fandom, but it's still pretty active, so at least I'm not alone!
Now to write a post about Yuletide (which I didn't do, again, but have been reading) and also something about my current state of Being Snowed In During Large West Coast Storms.
Happy new year, all!
