So, the idea is that I was given a letter (M, in this case), and I have to think of five fictional characters whose names start with that letter, and then list them and comment about them. I've been meaning to do this for about a year or so now (*cringes* fuck, but time flies too fast :/), so let me finally hop to!

To add my thoughts on the above: I know exactly what you mean about Mat, and I do love Minerva as well.

And sure! I'd love to check you out, and lol, I revel in any chance to gush about Supernatural. ;)

With regard to Rand, I think I like the first book the best, where he finds out about his power, his past, and tries to deal with it. Now that he has accepted it, he has become a little "boring." Mat had such a hard time until he could come to terms with the "voices of the past." Now that he has, he has really become an awesome character. I look forward to knowing what happens with the Daughter of the Nine Moons!

Regarding Rand, I feel like we can't relate to Rand any more. That's what I mean by boring, I guess. I love those little scenes with his "wives" but other than that he is way too much the leader with his burdens. I mean the Dragon Reborn right?! I was commenting on another site about why Dean is our hero and for me, a big part of it is how we can relate to him and we can feel for him. Maybe I am not getting enough of that from Rand.Mat and Parrin on the other hand... They are much more human, and yet they have that leadership quality too. For me, Mat is hero 1, Perrin is hero 2 and Rand is well... the Dragon Reborn.
