To any who stop by, welcome to my latest and truly unscientific poll about Starsky & Hutch fanfiction for readers, writers/artists, and anyone in between. Fanfiction seems to be a large part of our fandom (any fandom?) ... almost as much as the canon episodes and the visuals and anything else related to our two favorite Bay City Detectives.

I write b/c I love words and how they can go together in infinite ways, and the subtlest differences can result in big changes in meaning. I enjoy exploring different subjects and feelings and worlds.
And feedback! Feedback is a terrible, addictive drug. :D
I write fanfic in specific b/c I am a sad, sad addict. When I fall for a show, I can't get enough of it. It fills my head. Also, I like puzzles: jigsaw puzzles and adventure games and crosswords. There's something fantastic about being given a set of tools (in this case, the canon show) and being able to poke and rearrange and cobble things together: Sometimes stomping and playing right in the middle like a kid in a sandbox. Sometimes turning things around to different perspectives. Sometimes fitting things together that weren't that way in the original. Sometimes pushing right to the edges, maybe hanging over the side of the toolbox, but balancing... right... there. I like to think that none of my fanfic ever falls over the edge, but of course that is in the eye of the reader. ;)
I like AUs, btw. And crack!fic. I think S&H can use more of both, though I admit it's harder to do the latter, given the genre of the original. ;)
I read b/c... wow, how to even answer that. I am dumbfounded when I meet people who don't like to read. I just can't get my head around it. I like imaginary worlds, I suppose. And I truly think I learn a lot from reading, whether fiction or nonfiction.
I read fanfic b/c, again, addict! And back to the toolbox idea, I like to see how other people take the same tools and come up with infinite different things that is exactly what I want to read, or is something I would never have thought of (and would love to steal, j/k). ;)

Re: the first question, I was trying to get a layer down, unartfully, in the poll...sort of a validation question of the first question. Out of character could mean the personalities were missed right from the start, from the moment "the short, dark one" or the "clumsy and giggling blond" walk in the door. :-( The second question was around behaviors - sort of more action oriented. I hope that makes sense.
Thank you so much!
