i've just read some strange, strange stuff

No, it's not porn.

But it has to do with sex.

I have just read about "spirituality" and "sex". And how because sex has become integrated into our society, the carnal act of sex is just for pure pleasure only. Nothing more. But this website I was reading was yammering on about the soul of sex and all this crazy shit. Stuff about:

"We need sex with meaning and depth. We need sex with soul as Thomas Moore calls it."
"...how we treat our bodies has deep implications for our sexuality. If we treat our bodies mechanicaly only, we may approach our lovers and our mates mechanically without a deep engagement of our spirit. And it is spirit that usually gives sex its depth and humanity. We are graceful and subtle beings."
"The largest part of human sexuality is inaccessible to the materialist's viewpoint. Beyond it lies a whole world of sexual meaning. By looking at the sexual myths we live out, and at our spiritual attitudes, however developed and conscious they may be, we will find roots of our desires and the sources of our satisfactions. Here lie secrets critical to our problems and unfulfilled hopes, here is a way to educate the young in their sexuality, and here the means of reconciliation between sex and morality and between the body and the spirit."

When I read this...it makes me want to laugh and then puke. It's such...garbage. Yeah, having nice, meaningful sex is probably very good and all that...but so what? Maybe it's my disinterest in the religious aspect of sex, but to me, this sounds like some preachy crap that spews forth from those informative brochures. And why is philosophy coming into the issue? Materialist? What "reconciliation between sex and morality"?

Maybe this might be offensive, and since I haven't had sex, I wouldn't rightly know, but I think sex should be what it is. If someone thinks sex is for pleasure, then that's what sex will be, for them. If someone else thinks that sex is to dominate someone, then that is what sex will be, for them.

Everything's about perspective.
