I really, really love this fic. I think you got the tone of their relationship note perfect without sending the story to as dark a place as some of these tend to go to (not that dark is always bad, but this one just...makes me happy. Even though Ryu gets shot... ;). I especially loved the scene where Ryu showed Hayato his scars -- it was sweet and hot and heartwrenching all at the same time, but still subtle, as Ryu and Hayato sort of have to be about each other. (These are not guys who are good at pouring cups of tea and talking about their feelings...) And I love the way Hayato sort of trivializes his own feelings even to himself, playfully using Ryu as a jerkoff fantasy rather than letting himself wallow in what he wants and can never have. It's so in character, and simultaneously funny and sad. And the whole idea that Hayato has been in love with Ryu all these years, while Ryu never even really faced the question of what he felt for Hayato because all he could see was the lust coming from Hayato, not the love, is just... (*sighs*) (*hugs them both*) (*hits them both over the head*)

The kitchen scene is also my favorite. Yup, most guys don't talk about their feelings (which is why we want to strangle them sometimes). Thank you for taking time to delve on the boys' psyche. Thank you for this lovely comment ♥
