Boys Do Fall In Love

Part 3

“You think ten years from now, we'd still be friends?” Yucchi asked. Their  last day in high school had ended. The following day would be their graduation rites and they had decided to spend  the night together.

“Die, Jin!” Koki yelled.

“Burn in hell, Kazuya!” Yamapi exclaimed then kicked Koki.

“I don't think we'd still be friends by tomorrow,” Kazuya remarked, watching Yamapi and Koki curse and kick each other as they played Tekken 4. He and Yucchi laughed as they laid side by side on the floor. When their laughter died down, they both fell quiet, seemingly ruminating on their future.

Kazuya didn't know what hit him but he just rolled over on top of Yucchi and kissed him right smack on the lips. Kazuya chuckled when he drew away and found Yucchi's eyes had bugged out and jaws gone slack.

Eyes glinting with mischief, Kazuya scrambled away and crawled towards his two other friends. He cupped Koki's face and kissed him on the lips. Koki pushed him away, clear displeasure on the face. “The fuck?” Koki wiped his lips with a hand. “Don't do that! Jesus!”

“Is it bad?” Kazuya asked.

“No,” Koki said. “It's just...you make me want to confess to a priest. And I'm not even Catholic.” Kazuya laughed because he understood. If kissing Yucchi felt blah, kissing Koki felt incestuous.  He turned and saw Yamapi smiling amusedly.

Yamapi dropped the controller and opened up his arms. “Well, come here, baby!” Kazuya laughed once again before he sidled over to Yamapi who grabbed his shirt and kissed him for a  few good  seconds.

“What the hell...”

The two broke apart and found that Jin had entered the room, arms laden with chips and sodas.

“You're just in time,” Yamapi said, looking not the least bit flustered. “Kazuya's in a kissing frenzy.”

Jin stepped inside the room, placed the food on the floor beside a still motionless Yucchi while he continued to sharply eye Yamapi and Kazuya.  Yamapi pushed Kazuya. “Go on, Kazuya. Give Jin some loving.”

Kazuya knew he was being crazy but he couldn't stop himself.  He kept laughing as he walked towards Jin. He placed his hands on Jin's shoulders, turned up his head and fixed his gaze straight into Jin's soulful dark brown eyes. And he froze. His laughter faded and its tail end smile wavered. He swallowed a lump that had suddenly appeared in his throat and he took a step back. But Jin cupped his face  with both hands and leaned into him. As time seemed to have stopped while their lips brushed against each other, Kazuya felt a sinking sensation in the pit of his stomach and he had never been more scared in his life.

The moment Kazuya saw the guy, he knew he wanted him. And when he sang, the melancholic timbre of his voice struck a chord in Kazuya and Kazuya knew he has to have him.

Right after the band's set, the lead singer goes straight to the bar. Kazuya makes his move. He sits on the stool beside him and casually comments, “John Lennon’s my favorite.”

The other guy, wearing a white The Beatles shirt, turns towards Kazuya. “He broke up the band,” he says, smiling amusedly.

Kazuya smiles back. “He did it for love. For a Japanese girl,” he says then, as an afterthought, adds, “And in the end he got shot.”

The other guy chuckles and Kazuya wants to take him then and there. It has been a month since he broke up with Akihiko and he is horny as hell.

“So what’s your favorite John Lennon song?”

“Beautiful Boy,” Kazuya says then bites the inside of his lip, heart rapidly thrumming in his chest.

“Natsu!”

The other guy turns around towards a band mate calling him. He waves back and gets off his stool. “I gotta go,” he says. Kazuya smiles while he holds his breath and silently prays because he knows if he doesn't take the guy home, he will explode. Natsu pauses and stares at him for a couple of seconds. “Just one more set and we’re done,” he says. There was no misinterpreting the glint in Natsu's soulful dark brown eyes.

“Yeah,” Kazuya casually says when, in fact, he wants to jump up and shout “Yes!”

Kazuya stills when he hears the apartment door open.

“What?” Natsu asks.

“Nothing,” Kazuya says and resumes kissing Natsu. But he stops again when he hears the sound of falling objects. “Shit,” he mutters.

“What?” Natsu asks again.

“My roommate's home.” He clucks, annoyed that he cannot ignore the racket Jin is making. Despite the throbbing in his groin, he pushes Natsu off him, rolls off the bed and quickly pulls on a pair of sweatpants. “I'm gonna be back.”

He pauses by the doorway, tries adjusting his crotch but gives up and just hopes Jin won't notice his hard-on. He need not have worried though because when he steps out of his room, he finds Jin sitting on a chair by the dining table, pressing the ice cube tray on his face.

“What happened to you?” he asks seeing Jin's face bruised and lip cut. Jin doesn't answer. “You're drunk?” he asks. Not that it isn't obvious. Jin reeks of alcohol.

“Yuki and I broke up,” Jin says.

Kazuya clicks his tongue and takes the ice tray from Jin. “So what else is new?” He takes a hand towel from a drawer, pops the ice cubes into it then hands it to Jin.

“I broke up with her,” Jin says.

“Oh.” That is new, Kazuya thinks. Everyone knows Yuki steered their relationship. “And  she beat you up?” he asks, half-joking.

“Baka,” Jin says. “I got drunk and...you know the rest.”

Kazuya nods, knowing fully well how they sometimes deal with broken hearts. “I'll be back,” he says and goes to the bathroom. He comes back with a cotton ball steeped in antiseptic. “Why'd you break up with her?”

“I don't know.” Jin shrugs. “I guess, I woke up and smelled the coffee.”

Kazuya doesn't say anything. He won't be surprised if Jin gets back with Yuki in a few days time. Jin seems to be under her spell. He dabs the cotton ball on the cut in Jin's lip.

Jin yelps and grabs Kazuya's wrist. “It stings.”

“Don't be such a ninny.” Kazuya instinctively blows on the cut. Jin stops moving and the grasp on his wrist loosens. He dabs on the wound once again, purses his lips but he stops because his eyes meet Jin's and Jin is looking at him funny. When Jin tilts up his face, Kazuya's heart skips a beat.

“Ehem.”

Kazuya starts. He twists around and finds Natsu standing by his bedroom door. He mentally kicks himself for completely forgetting about him. “Hi,” he says feeling awkward. He tries to step away from Jin but Jin doesn't let go of his wrist. “This is Jin, my roommate. A friend. Just a friend,” he says and jerks his hand away from Jin.

Natsu doesn't answer, just slightly moves his head in a half-hearted acknowledgement of Jin. “I should go,” he says as he slings his guitar case on his shoulder.

“What? No,” Kazuya protests but hearing how desperate he sounded, he backtracks and says, “I mean, you know...it's early.”

Natsu looks at Jin then Kazuya and he smiles wanly. He gives Kazuya a light peck on the cheek and says, “I'll call you.”

As soon as the door shuts close behind Natsu, Kazuya slumps on the chair across Jin. Jin asks, “You picked up a hobo busker?” Kazuya raises his head and meets Jin's gaze. He gets up to take a cold shower because he still feels the restlessness in his groins.

Kazuya stares at the glass pot, watching the dark brown liquid slowly drip inside. His whole body aches but overall he is numb. He had sex with Jin.

Natsu had gone and he wasn't going to get any action that night. After taking a cold shower and preparing Jin a hot bath, he had gone to bed only to wake up and find Jin on top of him, intention clear. “Jin, I don't think...” was all he could say before Jin kissed him then said, “Don't think. Just this once, don't think.” And he didn't. He stopped thinking and just felt everything.

But it is morning and Kazuya is back to thinking. Natsu left and he was horny. Jin was heart broken and drunk. That was all there is to it, he rationalizes.

Jin stares absently at his students who are thrashing the whole classroom like they were all possessed by the spirit of the Tasmanian devil. Any minute, the principal will be storming in and give Jin a lashing but he doesn't care. He has a brain-splitting hang-over and a troubled mind.

He broke up with Yuki and felt free. He got drunk and got into a fight and he felt good.

Then he got home and Kazuya tended to him and blew into his lips and he felt very good. He tried to dissuade himself the whole time he was in the bath. Told himself he shouldn't take advantage because Kazuya's always been good to him. But it was exactly that Kazuya makes him feel good that broke his resolve and the next thing he knew he was in Kazuya's bedroom.

When he  woke up that morning, there were coffee and muffins and Kazuya greeted him like nothing happened. Jin wondered if it was just a dream that the night before Kazuya cried his name while looking at him through eyelids that fluttered.

Jin leans his forehead on his desk and he groans, mortified that he is having inappropriate thoughts in front of his innocent students. Worse, he cannot care less. He doesn't even look up when he is hit on the forehead with with a crayon and the whole class snickers.
