It was dark in the chambers that Neep and his crew quietly slipped through. They traveled in twos, except for Neep, the last pare pulling the make shift wagon. The group had spent days widening the tunnels that kept the chambers together. They paused to listen periodically for indications of danger. There were others around that would attack if they could.
Neep was fairly certain that they would be safe during this part of the journey. The only thing that they had besides the wagon were bags that they planned to use for the food they were after.
As they reached the last chamber they came together before the next step. Befor the hard part. Neep used hand signs to review the plan.
They now had to climb up to an opening that led into the area with the food. The food was packaged in huge containers so they would have to re-bag it. This was where things got tricky. The bags would not fit threw the opening when full but if the opening was made big enough for them it would be found and sealed off.
They would have to pour the supplies through the opening into the bags. The others would hold the bags open and Neep would drag the large bag of food to it. Once it was in position he would open it and let the contents spill out.
Once the bags were full and loaded into the wagon they would begin the slow task of pulling the full wagon home.
They would have to be very cautious when doing so. The others would be drawn by the smell of food and be likely to attack. Neep hoped that the food that would inevitably spill would keep the others distracted, or at least buy them time.
Once threw the hole Neep looked around at the supplies within and found a bag of rice that her could move. Rather then collecting a verity of things they were just going for the one. Neep and his friends knew from past experience that everything they opened would be gone by the next night. He paused to check for the beast or worse but, hearing nothing and smelling no indication of trouble he shoved the bag into place and tore it open.
As the rice fell into the bags, some scattering around on the floor, the sound made Neep increasingly uneasy. He began to help it go faster.
Once the bag was empty, Neep quickly scurried threw the opening and down to the others and helped finish loading the wagon. Most of the rice had scattered over the floor and they had scooped up what they could to fill the bags.
Neep and 4 others pulled the wagon while the rest pushed. They were making better time then expected when the sound of the others fighting over the spilled rice reached them. Hearing it they put even more effort into it.
As soon as they got through the first gate into the territory they had established as their own they pushed the heavy barrier over the opening and continued on towards the storage rooms. There were three more barriers to be sealed up along the way. As each tunnel was closed off Neep and the others became a little more relaxed.
Exhausted, they reached the rest of the colony and their neibors ran up and took over.
The raid finished and nobody was hurt, unless you counted sore muscles.
Neep crawled to bed with the knowledge that he was going to be very stiff and even more sore when he woke.
