Finding a Good dog

Nov 01, 2019 02:24

So, about 9 years ago I started watching the pet ads for puppies.
I was looking for one to train as a service/support dog.
I have asthma and epilepsy and finding a neurologist in Iowa is not easy so the epilepsy was not being treated ( I currently travel over an hour to Des Moines )
I was sort of looking for one that was low shed.
Well, a friend who was living across the street at the time had a female golden lab mix that was not fixed and a male mixed also not fixed.
Despite trying to keep them apart they hooked up.
On May 1,2011 she went into labor.
About half way through she started to have trouble so I came over and helped her with the stuck puppy ( number 4 of 7 ).
As I started to rub the puppy two more popped out. I had to hand the female puppy to my mother who was also there to help with the other two.
By which point puppy number 4 was with us and mom set her down.
Her same, Sasha, went to sniff her and, I kid you not, that puppy put a paw on her Dame's nose and tried to push her away.
I knew at that moment that I had found my dog.

The largest in the litter.
Now in addition to the lab she also has some collie type in her from which she gets her dainty paws and smallish head.
Aketa from which she gets an under coat that blows out every spring.
She had the lab over coat.
-- it takes longer to wet her down right then it took to bath any other dog I have washed.
From some other breed she got a barrel chest.

And my son named her Snow Cub.
We call her Cubby

puppy, cubby, dog
