Arcata again
More car work today, so I went walkabout in Arcata again. Had breakfast at the same place as before. Great meal, and another super server got a super $10 tip! Took a picture this time that didn't show the scaffolding so much.
After that I decided to walk to my old neighborhood where I lived for 15 years. Hadn't set foot on the place since I moved out in 2001. I lived in the little cottage in the back; the one with the truck parked in front. Knocked, but nobody answered. (Didn't really expect they would; I wouldn't have answered an unexpected knock at 9 in the morning, either.) ;-) Spent the prime years of my life here - age 32 to 47 - so the place is of no small significance to me.
Anyway, by the looks of all the plants they had on the front porch, the current resident might have lived there just as long as I did or maybe even longer. It's a cozy place. Nice view and great neighborhood, too, but eventually I simply outgrew it. Wanted my own house, anyway. Tired of paying rent, wanted a dog, etc. It was just time to move on.
That was about it. Car was finished by the time I walked back to the shop. :-)
