The debate

I think both candidates did well enough for their positions, and I don't think there was a clear winner. I'm not great at judging that, but I don't think either of them really outshined the other last night.

And a few things:

- The bracelet fight was staggeringly lame. Using dead soldiers as political tools, always classy.

- Republican Guard ≠ Revolutionary Guard. The future US president should probably be aware of this about the emerging leader of a region that is kind of important to us.

- I found the body language interesting. McCain seemed comfortable, trying to project the "folksy" kind of crap that sells so well, but he never looked at Obama and had the weird smirk thing going on. Obama looked more like he was trying to refrain from rolling his eyes (or slapping him at the 90th time McCain told him that he just "doesn't understand").

- And on a superficial note, Michelle Obama is an AMAZON who kind of amusingly towered over McCain and his wife at the end.

Anyway, I dislike Sarah Palin so much more than I dislike Obama, McCain, or Biden. So I've been looking forward to the VP debate much more than any of the McCain-Obama exchanges.
