icon-fic

(The icon has been lost in the shuffle of my life. Terribly sorry! It was Buffy standing next to Dawn. Buffy's head was inclined toward her sister and the text said "hair puller" it was from season 4 (or maybe 5?) "Family")

Joyce closed her eyes as she heard the rising voice of her ten-year-old daughter. “Why are you being a bitch?”

Joyce groaned as her older daughter rose to the bait. “Don’t call me a bitch!”

“I’ll call it like I see it,” Dawn retorted. Joyce could imagine the scene. Buffy would roll her eyes--only fifteen and she had already perfected that expression--and pinch her sister on the arm. Dawn would scowl, grab a handful of her sister’s blonde hair and yank it.

“Hey! Don’t pull my hair, you little brat!”

Joyce couldn’t help but smile as Dawn played her trump card. “Mooooom! Buffy called me a brat!”

Buffy gasped, “Well Dawn called me a bitch!”

“She started it!”

“Did not!”

“Did to!”

“Girls.” Joyce’s voice was tired. “Apologize and… go to your rooms. Your separate rooms.”

Buffy rolled her eyes. “I’m sorry, Dawnie.” Her apology was automatic and insincere and Dawn picked up on her sister’s artificiality.

“Mom, she doesn’t mean it! You can totally tell she doesn’t mean it!”

“Mom!” Buffy wailed, but Joyce interrupted her.

“Enough! Just... go. I need a little piece and quiet.”
