I've been doing a hell of a lot of thinking recently, mainly about what I want to do next year. Well, as every self-respecting current or former Leeds student should know, next year means from July 1st. As much as I love Leeds I'll have lived here for five years come June, and I'm probably feeling a little bit jaded and in need of a change. My original idea was to move to a different city for a year but that's pretty much dead in the water due to various realities; getting enough people who feel similar (ideally four) and are in a position to be able to effectively take a year out, girlfriend in a Leeds-based career job, etc.

My new brainwave is to get a new house contract for somewhere in Leeds which would start in September '08, finish my job and current house contract by the end of June, go travelling around Europe from July for a month or so, move home for a couple of weeks/a month when I get back to give me time to find a new job. Personally I'd be in a position, financially and commitment-wise to do it, but unfortunately I think finding at least another two people who are in a similar position might be a struggle. That said, I don't expect it to cost the world and the £500 saved on July and August rent would be a massive help. Annoyingly I've seemingly got my heart set on it like a moron even though it probably won't happen, and if in July I'm starting another year-long contract in a house in Hyde Park, still in the same job, I'm not going to be happy.

I've just enjoyed another brilliant weekend in Whitby, I love the place. In fact I've had another great month generally, mainly involving deep pans, Cano guy's locks, the jog back, Kozelek in Manchester, O'Neill's, Victoria Hotel, Walmsley Road house party and Bonfire Night. There's so much good stuff planned between now and Christmas too that I think by the time the (actual) new year comes around I'll be out for the count.

There's something depressingly reassuring about watching post-Neighbours Doctors.
