30 DAY'S OF BUFFY
DAY 14: FAVOURITE FEMALE VILLAIN
DRUSILLA
For a moment i was considering Faith, but in the end crazy trumps badass every time! Drusilla has been of my fav characters since her first appearance. She is a contradiction, softly spoken, demure and innocent in appearance. Yet she is one of the most viscious vampires we see on the show. Her child-like qualities making her even more chilling. She is flightly and fickle, she follows her visions, even going so far as to turn Spike because she saw him as a 'White Knight'
Juliet Landau is amazing at playing the crazy Dru, She brings such a great depth to the character. She has a great chemistry with James Marsters, and David Boreanaz.
Her background, that we only get a glimpse of in a few flashbacks is one of the most interesting to me. As a human she was a devote, receiving visions of the future. She mentions that she had a dream about a cave-in, and two men dying. On the day she was to take her holy orders and become a nun Angelus turned her into a vampire. But not before he mentally ( and physically) tortured her to the point of madness. Now she is crazy, her moments of lucidy are few and far between. She more often then not speaks only in riddles that she (and sometimes Spike) can understand.
It is her visions that attracted Angelus to her in the first place, he is fascinated with knowing the future before it happens. He turns her because he feels dying it to good. He want's her to have eternal torment. He doesn't care about her in the same way a human does, but he does want to posses her.
I think her 'crazy' attitude is partly her appeal, she is so different from every other character that ou can't help but be fascinated every time she comes on screen. She is also the proud owner of one of my favourite quotes. Drusilla: (Season 5, Crush) "Vampires can love quite well you know, if not exactly wisely,"
