[IC Scene w/Lacroix, Corbin, Hector]

Ash found it impossible to sleep the night before his outing to Lacroix’s home, too excited with the knowledge that he would finally get to see Lacroix again, to talk to him in person, to hold him, to do all those little things that were impossible to do with just a telephone and an internet connection. He’d sent Lacroix several excited text messages throughout the day, a testament to just how happy he was for this day to have arrived.

When Ash arrived at Lacroix’s building that night, he met Corbin at the door; he’d asked the other man to wait for him outside because the thought of going in with Corbin seemed far less intimidating than having to talk to Hector himself. It wasn’t that he was scared of saying something to offend Hector, that wasn’t it at all; he was just... hoping to avoid any more awkward conversations with Hector, because the phone call setting the date for tonight had been very odd to say the least.

As a peace offering, Ash presented Hector with the book he’d found online, a new release that detailed a little-known Latin American death cult and the black magic they practiced. Of course Ash didn’t believe in that sort of thing, no, but when he’d been looking around for a suitable gift for Hector, that particular book had stuck out to him first because of its subject matter, and second because it was so new and rare. He hoped Hector hadn’t already picked it up himself.

"I’m afraid I haven’t had the opportunity to pursue any new reading material the past few months," Hector admitted, putting to rest Ash’s internal concerns as he gave that book a slow flip-through, intrigued. A couple trips to an antique bookstore had been it lately, as well as the couple books he’d rifled from the rare book library that he and Lacroix visited several weeks prior. New releases hadn’t been a priority of Hector’s, so he thanked Ash for the thoughtful consideration.

While Hector continued to look the book over, Ash had to force himself not to smile too much, but he couldn’t exactly help it. On the ride up the elevator to Hector’s floor, he was already so looking forward to being away from Hector and Corbin to see Lacroix alone. The security here was insane, yes, and it was interesting to finally be able to see Lacroix and Hector’s home, but that was by far the least important part of the trip over -- he was just so excited over the fact that he was going to get to see Lacroix alone again, after nearly two months since their vacation to Odessa.

Ash turned his head to smile at Corbin too, who was standing beside Hector. Oh, he definitely knew he owed Corbin big for this one, that was for sure. He wasn’t sure just how he could repay the other man for this in the future, because convincing Hector to let him in here was pretty monumental.
